Oasis airline in liquidation- what to do?

I've read right through this thread and unfortunately not much of the advice seems to apply to me as I used neither a credit card or debit card, but a charge card from my business. It's from HSBC and it carries the Mastercard logo on the back, so even if it could be treated legally as a debit card it's not a Visa one so the chargeback scheme doesn't seem to apply. No travel insurance to claim it back through, no travel agent to claim against as I booked it myself on the Oasis website. Does anyone think I have any chance of getting my money back? More details below, any comments/advice welcome.
From the Financial Ombudsman website that was linked to before (my underlining):
"For section 75 to apply, certain conditions must be met. Most credit card purchases will be covered, but:- the cash price of the goods or services must be more than £100 and not more than £30,000; and
- purchases are not covered if they are made by debit cards or by charge cards (where the monthly bill has to be settled in full).
Paid for flights end of last month, for flight date September this year.
As noted before, I used HSBC Mastercard charge card through my small business. With a charge card the costs you accrue for the month get paid in full at the end of the month i.e. you can't defer them for a few months and pay interest on them.
I haven't actually paid for the flights yet, strictly speaking, because the statement on which the flight cost will appear will be sent to me Apr 20th and the total amount will come out of my business account on Apr 27th. Does this have any relevance - that I haven't actually paid for it yet?
As I said before, if anyone can point me in the right direction I'd be very grateful.
Many thanks

I said that I wanted to claim against MS/Goldfish/Barclaycard and the operator treated me as if I was mental. She told me that the airline had gone bust so why should the CC company be liable?!?
This is quite disgraceful !!! Either the credit card companies are telling their staff to lie OR they are so poorly trained it's a wonder that they are allowed out on their own !!
The credit card company IS responsible !!!0 -
daleski,
Go into your local branch and kick up a stink in front of other customers. Then they will take you seriously. In a raised voice, use words like "ridiculous, totally unfair, unreasonable, crazy, etc" and then they will certainly listen to you.
Go at the busiest time such as lunchtime for maximum effect.
Good luck!

I purchased a return flight to Hong Kong back in October '07.
I was due to fly out on 16th May '08 and come back on 25th May '08.
I booked using an Alliance & Leicester VISA Debit card.
I'm planning on phoning A&L tomorrow and enquiring about VISA's charge-back, and I'll be asked to be put through to their non-fraudulent claims department, if who I speak to isn't helpful.
Do you have any further advice for me?
I booked a new flight (same dates) with BA 2 days ago. I hope I can either have this alternate travel arrangement paid for by A&L, or that I'm at least given back the original Oasis fare!0 -

I phoned up again and spoke to a much nicer lady who is going to forward all the details onto the appropriate department, so fingers crossed maybe some good news...
Hope everyone else with credit/debit card gets their money back too.

Which number did you contact them on?
Good luck0 -
I am in the same situation as I paid by visa debit card which is with Nationwide, so I called Nationwide told them my predicament and they promptly told me they do not do chargebacks for companies in liquidation and then the phone went silent.
Has anyone else here paid for their flight with a Nationwide Debit Card?
Might phone again and speak to someone else but knowing me will get the same lady again who was no help at all.
Kind Regards
Dale
Yes, we're in exactly the same position. My husband was told to go into his local branch and complete a claim form, so it's worth you doing that too.0 -
DEBIT CARD USERS
I can't believe none of you moneysavingexperts watched working lunch yesterday.
Anyway as if by fate there was a article about claiming back money off of VISA debit cards, citing the case of a MaxJet customer and someone who bought a bed from a company which went bust.
The only snag is that you can only claim chargeback on transactions within 120days. But at least for all those VISA debit card users who booked (i assume) in the last 120days it does confirm to me that you should get full refunds.
Anyway watch the piece on BBC Iplayer - its episode 11/04/2008 and the piece you want to listen to is 10min25secs into the episode
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/search/?q=working+lunch
(and as its on iplayer the programme will be removed in 7days)
hope u all get those claim forms in

Hello all,
I have phoned my bank. The person I spoke to was polite, but didn't know much about my situation. She only recommended that I send proof that Oasis Hong Kong has ceased trading, and any other correspondance I've had with Oasis Hong Kong to Alliance and Leicester's customer services department.
The general gist of what she told me was: "If Oasis Hong Kong won't pay you then we'll look into it further."
I asked to be put through to A&L's non-fraudulent claims department but she said I wouldn't get any different advice from them.
If anyone has any advice for me it would be much appreciated.
Thanks!0
