Ah, the Telegraph ( http://www.telegraph.co.uk/money/main.jhtml?view=DETAILS&grid=M3&xml=/money/2006/11/11/cmshop11.xml )
A Visa spokesman said: "Visa regulations allow for banks to seek financial redress from the merchant's bank if the cardholder has bought goods or services that will not be delivered, for example when a merchant ceases trading. This applies to Visa credit and debit cards."
Visa regulations allowed credit card issuers to initiate a chargeback, even when the amount of the transaction was less than the £100 lower limit stipulated under the Consumer Credit Act.
The spokesman added: "Cardholders should contact their issuing bank. The timeframe for cardholders to contact their bank is 120 days from when they learnt that the merchant would no longer be able to supply the goods or services."0 -
after much problems yesterday and being told off by the credit card companies and usless travell insurance which dosent cover u if the company
goes bust i finially got the call i been waiting for from halifax

Visa regulations allow for banks to seek financial redress from the merchant's bank if the cardholder has bought goods or services that will not be delivered, for example when a merchant ceases trading. This applies to Visa credit and debit cards that is how i got my money back it applies to visa debit cards as well i said the goods wernt going to be delivered weather it tickets or anything u puchase online u are coverd by this so she told me that i would get all my money back but in about 3 months time thats how long it will take the did refund me the whole lot both airilnes i used refunded me my money i only has to pay £30 pound admin charge on cathay pafic and they gave me back my money (from hk to bbk ) as i couldent get to that flight because of oasis
i belive that oasis are being bought over by another big airline that is why none of the banks or visa company wanted to pay out only there flights operations have been suspended until futher notice the rest of oasis is still carring on operations so what is hapening sounds like a buy out i think cathay pafic is buying them out as there prices are really cheap at moment so i am a bit suprised that none the banks wanted to know yesterday but today only to happy to refund the money i guess they bent under pressure
any way i said either way i will get my money back and i did0 -
I rang Barclays and told them about the Visa spokesman in http://www.telegraph.co.uk/money/main.jhtml?view=DETAILS&grid=M3&xml=/money/2006/11/11/cmshop11.xml and they're sending me the forms to get my money back. So if you're given the 120 days thing, keep arguing.0

Just rang the halifax quoted the telegraph article.
I used a visa debit card.
They have raised a legal dispute and will get confirmation in a week, and the woman said it would be dealt with within 3 weeks...
Let's see what happens.0 -
Thank you so much, trying to get through to Barclays now. I've booked my flights approx 50-60 days ago so hopefully I've still got a chance0

Bit of a language barrier with Barclays it seems, I think I'll just pop to my local branch on Monday (when I've calmed down) armed with this whole article. Thanks again0

I called up HSBC again, spoke to one of the lady (i think i got through to non-uk call centre, having difficult to understand me), I paid my Oasis ticket with my Mastero Debit card, anyway, I told her i got my Oasis ticket from a travel agent and at the moment they refused to full refund the price of the ticket to me and she used that point to filed a dispute, and said in few days someone will phone/post a letter to me regarding the investigation. Hope it all goes well:T:T0

I am in the same situation as I paid by visa debit card which is with Nationwide, so I called Nationwide told them my predicament and they promptly told me they do not do chargebacks for companies in liquidation and then the phone went silent.
Has anyone else here paid for their flight with a Nationwide Debit Card?
Might phone again and speak to someone else but knowing me will get the same lady again who was no help at all.
Kind Regards

daleski,
Go into your local branch and kick up a stink in front of other customers. Then they will take you seriously. In a raised voice, use words like "ridiculous, totally unfair, unreasonable, crazy, etc" and then they will certainly listen to you.
Go at the busiest time such as lunchtime for maximum effect.
Good luck!0 -
