  • Hi Moomin - don't worry about the driving. The roads are predominantly of a good quality and well signposted.

    There is no definitive answer on the tipping I'm afraid. Some do 5%... but many do nothing. You certainly wouldn't be frowned upon if you didn't. You will find most attendants very friendly and helpful - but do learn your Spanish numbers... and remember it's much cheaper here for fuel!

    Sin Plomo = unleaded
    Cinco = five
    Diez = ten

    "Diez por favor" (Dee-eth poor fa-vor)

    I hope that helps!!

    Doylersman - have a great time... but as an addict, I'm sure you will!

    Hi.. Playa Blanca is great, we love it there..this question has probably been asked before..but can you tell me what November weather is like, thinking of coming the first week.. we have been in may and october.. had beautiful weather....We too.. would like to spend much more time there in the next few years...Many thanks in advance.. Hope to be there soon

  • Hello there Caroline. November weather is very similar to October... with just a slightly more increased chance of rain. You would definitely need something long sleeved for the evenings too... whereas in October it is only a probably.

    Hope that helps!

    Hi Elle - we came to Playa Blanca a couple of years ago and loved it - we stayed at the Bahia Blanca Roc (hope I spelled it right) self catering and although it was basic, it was clean and the staff were great.
    We were hoping to return this New Year (maybe 29th Dec. for 7 days) but find that the prices are way out of our league. Any suggestions?

    Hi ellacoming to playa blanca on the 8th oct staying at sun park app all inclusive but have been reading some really bad reviews do you know these please having some doubts now thanks :(
  • Hi Booter - I'd say Sun Park (next door to Bahia Blanca) if you have your heart set on a hotel. It really is very basic, and the entertainment is dire (in my opinion). But if it's clean, central, and cheap that you're after... then it's worth it.

    Motherb - we had family there recently. They said that the food was ok... but not brilliant, but that there was plenty of it. They did feel the need to eat out a couple of times - but that the AI stopped them from needing a second mortgage to pay for kids ice creams, fizzy pop and their own drinks during the day.

    To both - Yes the hotel is looking a little tired now, and some staff are not happy for their own reasons (pay and stuff). Take it for what it is - which is a cheap and cheerful place to get your head down or chill out around the pool, and you'll be fine. You might also want to consider the Lanzarote Princess... which is even more central, and although it's getting old now, it still has it's hardened fans. We have friends staying there this week - their first time there in 14 years. They said it's tired but still fine for a base.

    Or why not look at hiring a villa instead? I don't know how many of you there are - but sometimes that can work out cheaper... plus you can please yourselves with mealtimes etc.

    I hope that helps!

  • Elle, please tell me the weather will be better for a week on Sunday? Just checked and it says for upto Thursday it's going to be raining.

    If you have any advice for us regarding the Holiday Village Flamingo Beach or any suggestion of places to go within Playa Blanca bearing in mind we have a 5yr old and a 4 month old.

    Thanks

    Hola hon.

    This link is what we find to be the most accurate for Playa Blanca: http://www.aemet.es/en/eltiempo/prediccion/localidades/yaiza-35330 However, do bear in mind that no forecasts are tremendously accurate past 5 days... so don't plan your outfits to the minute lol

    Yes it forecasts some rain. It doesn't surprise me... because October and February are generally when we do get the heavy rain. But don't worry - it usually only last a day or so, and then you're back to sunshine. Even when it is cloudy here, you can still burn... so please don't skimp on your sun cream.

    Friends of ours who stayed at the Holiday Village found that their 6 year old was well catered for - so you should be fine there. I've just heard a rumour (only a rumour guys - don't get excited) that the sand is finally going to be delivered to Playa Flamingo next week - which is great news. The water there is shallow enough for your littlun to have a safe paddle. That's just out the back of your hotel. Even if the sand isn't delivered... there is still a useable part of the beach.

    As far as other things to do - there are a couple of kiddie playgrounds about... Many of the hotels have kiddie discos too - but I'm unsure about which nights. Your holiday rep should be able to tell you. There is also Kikoland, next to the Princesa Yaiza hotel (about a 20-30 minute walk for you) which has various activities for kiddies of all ages.

    Have a lovely time! xxxxxx

  • Hi Elle

    Got back this morning it's been fantastic, walked into Playa Blanca town a few times and its beautiful. The Holliday Village was great no complaints what-so-ever my little girl had one to one swimming lessons for 30 euros suppose to be for half hour but she stayed until she got bored.

    Was a little hot on Thursday but the breeze was nice, and loved watching and feeding the fish from the habour wall. Will definately be going back again.

    We're missing it already, and thanks for all your feedback really helped.
