hi cant believe only just found this forum coming to playa blanca in oct cant wait all inclusive at sun park will keep reading thread now :)
  • After many days worrying about the weather, we've just arrived back from Playa Blanca and all I can say is wow!! The weather was amazing :) We loved Playa blanca in every way, the food, the meals the people, I could go on lol...We had great meals in China City and Roca Mar and loved having a beer in the Kings Head just watching the world go by. Took a ferry over to Fueterventura which we weren't particularly impressed by, we couldnt wait to get back to Playa Blanca. We were most saddened to come home this morning and would go back there in a heartbeat.

I can see why you moved there Elle, what do you do over there?

  • Hi,

We just got back from Playa Blanca last night. Thanks for all your
information and advice. We had a great time. The weather was fab.

We really enjoyed the food in the Tipico Canary and the Jumbo Chinese next door to each other on the sea front. We did the boat trip to Papagayo beach and also the full day Grand tour of Lanzarote. The tour was 45 euros but worth it as it included entrance to Jameos del Agua, Timanfaya and lunch too. The guide was great. The coach trip through Timanfaya National Park is not to be missed!

Back to the miserable weather here now! I can see why you love it out there.

    hi elle,
i know you live in Playa Blanca but i was wondering if you could help me out,

We have booked to go for week to Playa Pocillos And we really want to visit the volcano and eat in the restaurant there. We are travelling with our 1 year old so doing a full tour that takes in the volcano isnt really what we want. DH will not drive abroad and i cant...so do you know of excursion company thay may just do what we want or is it possible to get a bus there?

  • Hi all,

Fantastic thread. I came across it when I was randomly googling trying to find somewhere for a quiet enough holiday and now have my heart set on Playa Blanca. What I want to know is, how much are people generally paying for a package holiday? Playa Blanca seems to be the more expensive of the resorts - typical. I'm hoping to head over on the 25th/26th September so assumed I'd get a good enough late deal but no luck yet. Flying out from Dublin btw, that would be useful information!

Elle, fair play to you for all the work you've put in here. I'm sure your help has made all the difference to everyone's holiday!

  • Hi Elle,
thanks for such a great thread...Ooooodles of info ! Ive printed off tons of stuff for a visit to PB next week. Weve been once before in 2008 and loved every minute, cant wait to be back.

Can I trouble you with one quick question .... On our last day there we are leaving our villa at 10am and dont fly until 9pm. We had thought about going to the water park for the day (we have a 6 and 2 year old) but have read some terrible reviews about the place. Thing is, we have also read one very recent review that was positively glowing....has something changed, new management ect ??? If not, dont think we'll chance it... as our 6 year old is a none swimmer and one review said that none swimmers over a certain hieght were restricted from the kids area (our boy is tall) and not allowed in the swimming areas (does that make any sense ?!?!? sorry !)

Main thing is that we'd like to fill the day in some way that wont leave this kids hot and sticky for the flight home... any ideas, advice more than welcome.

Many thanks and again, super PB guide ;-)

Hello! Sorry I haven't been in.

In answer to Jillie - yes there are excursion companies but I don't think they take in the restaurant. But you might have enough time to eat if you get to Timanfaya... and then don't get the coach around the park (that takes about 40 minutes) Best to head to Last Minute Travel in the town centre and ask them about timings. You should be able to book it through your hotel... but the price will be more. Shame your DH won't drive, as you'd save a fortune by hiring a car! It's only €8.50 for non-residents to get in there.

Jennifer - I hope you grab a bargain. Yes, Playa Blanca is the most expensive of the resorts in lanzarote... but it's also the one that holds its head up during financially worrying times - so all those people can't be wrong. Hope someone can tell you what prices they're paying too! Why not look at getting a last minute package holiday to one of the other resorts, but then booking extra accommodation in Playa Blanca too - then you can sleep where you like... and might save some money in the process.

Lexie - I personally won't recommend it... but that's because there's no shelter and it really does need an overhaul. I can't comment on the restrictions though I'm afraid. I'm also not aware of new management... but then I don't know everything lol. Why not take them to Rancho Texas, which is just above Puerto del Carmen. Lots of animals and there are bird shows too.

Or... head to Matagorda and let them have a paddle there. The water is shallow and calm, so they can be safe. You an also play chicken when the planes land as they come in over the sea. There's a commercial centre there where you can grab something to eat and drink. You could also hire one of those bike things that 4 people sit in, and ride up and down the promenade. Then it's only a short taxi ride to the airport when you're done.

    Have a fantastic holiday guys!

I'm off to England today for a wedding... so won't be around for a few days - but you can drop me a PM if it's urgent... and I'll try to get back to you.

Thanks for the "thank yous" for the thread too - I'm just happy it's been of help to so many

    Elle xx

    Hi,

We had the same problem and couldn't keep our villa on for a late "check out" but we booked a bungalow at the natura gardens for £40 (via alpha rooms) the pool in the main hotel is quite good and it meant that we could have a shower etc before leaving for the air port.

What a fantastic thread! I'm so pleased that I have booked a week in Lanzarote. Have never been to Canary Islands before and arrive next week. I'm now really looking forward to it having read all the posts on here. They've been so helpful.

One question I have is....I've never hired a car or driven abroad. We're going to hire a car when we arrive (little bit nervous even tho I have nearly 18 years experience of driving!). When we top up at a manned station, is it customary to tip the petrol attendant and if so, how much?

Thank you again for a brilliant thread!
