I just used to sit in front of the telly doing it with my daughter while we chatted about our day.

BTW you don't need to use sellotape, you can just put the eggs onto tissue and they will stick anyway if they are wet.

    Hi
My four had headlice when kids and I tried all inscticides and electric nit comb and all sorts. but what did work was mixing 6 drops of tea tree oil with some water and about 3 tbs of vodka. Cant remember y vodka and not whisky but there is a reason!!!Leave on overnite. it works a treat.

i've never heard of killing the live lice and the nits all in one whatever you do.
my dd had them so often i think she was giving them names. now she just uses the mayonese (not everyones cup of tea) if she feels itchy at all.

    Hi. Quick query.

I have just handed in the form on the nitty gritty website to get a free nitty gritty comb on presciption. Never applied before but we have been informed that our doctors surgery will not sign the prescription. Has anyone else had this problem. I thought they wanted to eridacate the little b*****s. My middle daughter just seems to attach them. I have purchased the comb before but our 4 year old thought she'd have fun by hiding the comb, can't find it and hay presto, seven year old returns from school, you've guessed it scratching. I am going to scream. Any ideas or thoughts appreciated. Cheers.

    One very peeved mum.

GP's wont help with stuff like Nits anymore due to stuff being available OTC. Same with Verukas. Ultimately it costs them money for something you could buy yourself (wether you can afford to or not)

if you have a child who is entitled to free prescriptions you should be able to get anti-lice stuff free direct from the pharmacy.

I bought my Nitty Gritty comb off a seller called 'mother knows best' on eBay. Never thought to ask if it was available on NHS. Just wanted to get hold of one asap!! :)

One of the kids in my youngest daughter's nursery class is collected by her auntie a couple of days a week. I've been next in the queue twice now, and can clearly see eggs in the woman's hair. There's no hope of keeping the kids clear when the adults won't deal with their own, they just keep infecting the kids.

Yes, I know I should tell her, but how the hell do you start THAT conversation?

not all doctors will sign prescriptions for it though. i was always trying to get my doctor to give me a prescription for my daughter when she was at junior school, but was just told that it was the surgery's policy not to prescribe head lice treatments :(
