  • Yes I did read the leaflet and daughters hair was so saturated it was dripping . we sectioned it and everything. I haven't even got around to the second treatment yet.We bought the 150 ml bottle and about 100ml has gone.
  • My dd used to get nits a lot not cause she wasn't treated poor girl had long ahir but was very patient at letteing me condition and comb her hair . A hairdresser told us to use dermabac I was sceptical and wary as it was expensive but it worked and we havn't had any since as it kills them in egg as well as live ones . I can strongly recomend it .

Don't forget to wash all bedding and clothing thoroughly, they could easily have picked them back up from pillows.
dont know if this is right or not, our leaflet we get from school (too regularly) says they cant live on things like bedding, hats etc., need constant fresh blood  it says they are only caught by personal head to head contact (just the sort that schoolkids do!)

still, good idea to wash them anyway, just thought i'd mention that.

i saw somewhere on here that trusty old vinegar gets rid of them, comb through with the fine tooth comb, use as either a rinse or in a spray bottle. dont know yet, havent had them since before school hols, but quite sure we will bring them home from schoool again soon!

i really wish they would bring back the method of making anyone with nits go home and come back when treated, thats what we used to have and i can only ever remember one case of nits, because it controlled the spreading. but now, we cant say anything to anyone can we.........:T

they hate tea tree oil too.

Just a quick note - the Nitty Griity comb mentioned further up, you can get for free. On the web site there is a letter you can print out and take to your GP. They will give you a prescription to get it so save £10

We had success with delacet, also available free on prescription, I ordered it direct. The smell is not very nice, but it contains no chemicals, just vinegar and larkspur. It claims once application is enough, but it took two for my DD.

I think i read on the OS board a couple of weeks ago, how someone managed to get rid of her daughters nits, using a dogs flee shampoo!!!! Said she shampooed it on, left it 5 minutes and then washed off, and it killed all the nits!!!! I havnt tried it (yet) but if/when DD comes home with nits, i thought i would give it a try.
She also mentioned that she needed to use a lot of conditioner afterwards, as it made the hair quite dry.

I've heard of people using garden pesticides too, but that can't be a good idea, can it???

Still, some of them say you can eat fruit the same day you've sprayed and that pets don't need to be kept out of the area, so maybe...
