Yes it can be a sign. Does it feel like gritty grains of sand at the roots of your hair? Can you actually see anything?
We normally slather on LOTS of conditioner, leave for a while, then comb out with fine comb. Don't forget to change your bedlinen. The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.0 -
comb your hair with a very fine comb, then clean the comb on a kitchen towel. If there's hard white grains, they're nits eggs...if there's crawly black things...you know the rest!
Go into teaching if you are patient, commited and love changing lives for the better. If you ask me it's the best job in the world...as long as you tie your hair back;)Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

You'll need to do the fine combing for several days - someone break it to robinson how long ... or point him / her to the headlice thread! :rotfl:Signature removed for peace of mind0

I have for the second night running treated my daughter's head for lice. I have used the Full Marks Solution and also combed through with conditioner. Is there anything else I can do? Its driving me mad!
Thanks in advance.0 -

Thanks in advance0 -
Sorry but the only thing that works in my opinion is combing. Comb every other night with conditioner for at least 14 days and then comb once a week to prevent them coming back. Use tea tree leave in conditioner as well.
I think the combing is the only sure way of getting rid.0 -
Hi bobsa1

yes , and lavender essential oil as well. i read on mse once that they really hate vinegar, so to spray it onto the hair , in addition to the regular combing. i have even tried lavender oil and white vinegar mixed together and combed through! (i got a bit desperate a few months ago, thought we would be infested forever!) well, i havent seen any new ones since i tried that at the beginning of this new school year, although that might be a coincidence!0 -
The way to comb is wash hair and cover with conditioner, start at the top (crown) of the head and comb all the way down the hair to the tips, section the hair off with clips or bobbles if your child has lots of hair because you need to comb it all.
Wipe the comb and then do the same combing method again until you have combed all your childs hair. Rinse their hair and then dry as normal.
Hope that helps.0 -
I too used the conditioner and combing method. I used the nit comb every morning as part of hair combing routine also I took out live eggs (the brown ones) with a pair of tweezers whilst girls were watching their fav tv programs, they were so immersed that they did not mind my doing this. Though they are all but one, left school, one of my daughters works in nursery and still gets the occassional outbreak from a cuddly child!Pucker up and kiss it Whoville! - The Grinch:kiss:0
