That site is way out! It seems to think that a TV left on standby uses 6.5W - absolute rubbish!
:doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

deffo ON all day every day even has a light so I can see it (no not really) its in a cupboard in the dark.. It does have little leds glowing on it and it does have an on/off switch but never tested it. It also has a rather large transformer too, and a second unit called a switch for more capacity when required also on as well. It has the luxury of a 50amp supply from the meter when it was the heating cupboard, so if it fails it will take the street out with it.
I believe elec. is there to be used, its there for an instant and then gone for ever. I might as well consume it and pay for it.0 -
on 24 / 7 .
a router can't use very much energy at all given the power inputs.
more important would be whether you kept monitors on standby I would guess."If you really want to hurt your parents and you don't have nerve enough to be homosexual, the least you can do is go into the arts."0 -
Again, 24/7.
I would switch it off, but I run my phone system using VOIP, so the phone will only work with the router on.
I've only got cable broadband (no BT line), and I piggy-back a phone line over this broadband connection. Saves a bundle.0 -
My wireless router is on a timer - it goes off for a few hours during the night.
Does it no harm to cool off a bit, and might cheer up the fluffy bunnies a bit too.
The settings are saved in the router (Netgear DG834G) and it all works fine.0 -
