I'm posting this recipe, but I haven't tested it yet. I accept no responsibility for any disasters :D

    Ingredients
    115grams Soft butter
100grams white cooking fat (cookeen or trex)
    300 grams Sugar
    2 Eggs
    10mls Vanilla Extract
    345grams Plain flour
    6 grams Cream of tartar
    5 grams Baking Soda
    2 grams Salt
    For the coating
    5 grams Cinnamon
    25 grams Sugar

    Method

Cream together butter, cooking fat and sugar, beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour cream of tartar, baking soda and salt.
Mix sugar and cinnamon together for coating
    Make into walnut sized balls
Roll balls in cinnamon sugar, set on baking sheet and bake at 180 - 200oc until set. Allow to cool on wire racks.

I probably should have just posted a link to this but this is the snickerdoodles recipe and, take it from someone who made them yesterday, they are delicious!

By the way, I'm so glad I'm not the only one who dislikes the swearing that goes on these days. Ithought my post made me sound like an old grumbling biddy!

Well the boys are off to school. I seem to have so many 'must do' jobs today :( It doesnt help that i am still getting over a flu type illness and still only feel 70 % ok.
Yesterdays dinner comprised of McDonalds. Yes very not Money saving and bad for you !! But in my defense DS2 and DS3 along with myself havenot had one in 18 months ! So it was a treat ? Well it would of been if they remembered to include my sons happy meal . Then i wasnt able to eat mine whilst warm as i was on the phone ( constantly engagaed) trying to inform them of their mistake. Anyway a result next time i go in and produce my receipt i will get the whole meal again £12 something :)

OS today i am making something with chicken, no idea what yet though. It was to be yesterdays lunch. Might make a rubber chicken ;) WM needs to go on, its dry so i might see if i can get some sheets dry :)

((Hugs)) To anyone who wants one or needs one today. Either for themselves or others close to them. I havent read todays thread yet. So off to catch up....

Hope everyone has a great day. x

    Morning all :j

We've got a layer of white stuff outside, but more settled hail then snow, and not enough for the kids to play with.

Kids have gone back to school so back to the packed lunches and running around getting them ready in the morn.

Didn't get much done yesterday what with the kids under my feet then going out for dinner at Mum's, so have said I will get on today, as I have the house to myself and no one to distract me.

One of my main jobs today will be going and getting new tyres for the car, really could do with some new ones, but don't want to part with the money. Gonna have to bite the bullet and do it though, because they really do need replacing

Dinner tonight is toad in the hole, mash and veg.

    Hugs to all,
    Hels xxxx

Another chilled one from Kent passing through-resisting turning up the heating at the moment but it's a real temptation.
I was thinking of sorting out the garden this week-but that's been shelved as the garden is still all snowy so I guess decluttering is the order of the day but why does clutter appear to breed when you ignore it for a week or two ? ;)

Good morning everyone- 2 geese have just flown low over the garden, honking away. We don't usually get geese here and it reminds me of living in North East Scotland (where I'm from - I'm an expat living here in England laughing-smiley-014.gif)and watching the direction of the geese to tell if the weather was going to be warmer or colder. Anyone else do that?

OH going away this morning for a week. I'll concentrate on getting a load of decluttering from loft done and maybe, just maybe, manage to finish painting the stairs!

I'm off to make him poached eggs then will be back later to read through and see how everyone is.

    Take care

Morning Everyone:wave:  (From one of the "woosy" snow southerners;) )

Had loads of snow here yesterday, even got the sledge out!:j It's gotta be done!:D all gone now but more is due....

My kids are off now for 2 weeks - yes I agree, I dont know why everyone isnt off the same time - some people can't meet up or plan holidays together.
We are not going away, but will have some days out (weather permitting).

I've entered the Race for Life (City of London) - haven't set up my fund raising page yet (penpen) as I'm waiting for the confirmation things to come thru. I usually do the Flora Womens 5K in Hyde Park, but thought I would do this one this time, in rememberance of my FIL, who died of stomach cancer 4yrs ago.

Just ordered myself some new running shoes from Sweatshop as they have a 15% discount online at the moment, if anyone else is interested.

Postie has just been and my tickets for the "Mystic Arts" at Olympia have come thru! Also booked up for the Family History Exhibition again this year at Olympia - dont know if anyone else is going from here?? I know a few of you are doing your family history - DonnyGal/Jackie O ???

Pork shoulder joint in the SC for dinner tonite! WM is on, and now time to get the kids out for some air!! :rotfl:

All those going away - have a good holiday!!
    Mr Catznine - good luck.
penpenguin - youre right, they have not shown anything of the olympic torch goings on in China, so they said on the news last nite.
vickyA - wish I'd known you were in London, we could have met up!
mrsmix - hope your joints are coping with the cold weather?? how's the parking space application going?

PS: Enchanted is released today on dvd!

Have a great day everyone xx

Thank you Mioliere - they sound like they will be absolutely scrummy!!! As soon as I am back home Wednesday I shall make some :)

Got my free 3 month family railcard (via the freebies board on here) the other day; hopefully get my act together enough to take DD's up for a day out before we all go back (although the time seems to be getting very booked up already....)

Very strange house/dog sitting & being away from home - I feel as though I should be doing something other than still sitting in my pj's.... but not sure what... Decided to go off out around 10.30/11ish to raid craft shops in Maidstone.

Hi everyone, hope you all had a good weekend. Hugs for those that need them. Crazychik, hope you feel better.

I don't like excessive swearing either, it certainly shouldn't be part of normal language usage. People swear a lot at work as it's a high stress environment (no excuse I know), but I hate it more in public places as I don't think you should expose other people to it.

I had a really dull weekend, OH is still jet-lagged and has a bit of sniffle so is making my life hell to the point I actually lost my temper a little bit (which is very unlike me as I'm really mild mannered most of the time) - when he came back from Canada a few days ago he literally emptied the contents of his suitcase on the lounge floor and made no attempt to do anything with it. The flat is spotless when I'm on my own. I threatened a cleaning rota if he didn't start pulling his weight. It's not that he means anything by doing nothing, he's just a lazy so-and-so and doesn't notice if things aren't done - I also work much longer hours than him and have a more physically demanding job, so he can't use work as an excuse. We have some of his friends over (one arrives Friday) and he hasn't done any sort of preparation for this.

We had some snow over the weekend, but it's only pretty. If there is going to be snow, I want three feet as "pretty" doesn't shut work. Really quiet here though, everyone bar four of us are out an in-house conference. Boss is back tommorrow - we have to tidy the lab quick smart as our saftey audit could have been better. :(

Squiggly - there is a huge hobbycraft in Maidstone :D My parents live about 200 yards from it....

have a good day, cel x

    Morning Everyone

Hope everyones ok, (((hugs))) to anybody who needs them.

I am absolutely worn out, dd was awake for 2.5hrs in the night I think she had wind as she kept going on the potty with no results. She went back to sleep at 5am and woke at 7.30am. We will be having a quiet day today as I'm off for the week.

I'm about to write a list of what needs doing today and have a look at whats in the fridge for tea. I know that theres yet more washing to do I have no idea where it comes from.

    Have a good day everyone

good morning all. after my early start with dd3 yesterday being sick all over my bed, she showed no sign of being ill so i think maybe she had a bit of trapped wind. she's fine now, rolling about on the floor and babbling to herself.

today is the day the schools go back in cardiff so i have dropped dd1 off and am planning on a quiet day. mind you, the day started badly with the cable tv not working AGAIN. they say they will ring back in 48 hours. i am not of a mind to believe them...then i was expecting two wardrobes i ordered to be delivered between 11.30 and 12.30 today. come 7.30, knock on the door and there's the delivery driver. with only one wardrobe...and customer services aren't answering the phones...

the day can only get better, cant it? i have a lady coming this afternoon to pick up an item i sold on ebay, so she'd better turn up. i need the money to pay for school dinners on wednesday.

hope everyone has a good day.
