So.. my car has decided to develop a fault, it's flashing up a few error messages and as I said on Froggys thread one of them is ABS failure which sounds expensive! I'll be taking it to the garage to get checked but have had a quick rummage on some car forums with others reporting the same fault and they all look to have been charged £600-800 for the repairs.
Fingers crossed that you are right Froggy and that it will either be a reset or simple job
It's typical really as I think I'd mentioned about changing the car a few months ago as it felt like something was going wrong every two seconds and then it settled down so I put it to the back of my mind
Regards

Totally agree good to have you back. New job sounds good, car troubles not so. Don't you get a company cat with all that travelling? Fingers crossed its not too bad to get repaired.

what books did you get ATT?
I've just started the last book in Phillip Pullman's Northern Lights trilogy. Very good for children's literature. You definitely get the sense that the story was always intended as a trilogy and books 2 and 3 weren't simply a cash cow (big bug bear of mine)know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
Afternoon all, guess who is home poorly sick
Not so bad that I can't update and browse on here though so will get started!
Hope you are all well and safe and snug away from all this snow?

Hi ATT, I've just come on line whilst stopping for lunch, sorry to hear you're under the weather.
Being snuggled up at home when it's so cold, sounds like a good plan.

Aw thanks MCI, that's very kind of you to sayTotally agree good to have you back. New job sounds good, car troubles not so. Don't you get a company cat with all that travelling? Fingers crossed its not too bad to get repaired.
Hi TG, thanks for stopping by
The good news is that the day after I posted about car troubles the warning beepers and messages went off. Actually, I'm not sure if that is a good thing or a really bad thing e.g. might those problems still exist and just not be flashing up now? Not used the car for week now and with this weather not likely to for a while yet
Re company car, yes, I do get one but have always just taken the allowance, my travel can be so hectic with lots of moving around that a car would just not be practical e.g. I might leave by train, move on somewhere else during week (every day on occassion) then have to return via flight.
The other thing I never want to do is get in a car for a long drive when I've had a reallllly long day at work
PS, TG, I love your typo, you said company cat :rotfl: I know you love your cats and was just musing whether you or others might appreciate a company cat :rotfl:

Hi PD, thanks for stopping by, I hope you are well. I think your's was one of the first threads I used to read when you were in 'saving up for a mortgage' stage
I don't have the books to hand but they were a Boris Johnson history book (I lurrrrrrve Boris yet have no idea why) one on history of Rome, one on egyptian history, one about word entomolgy and a couple of fiction ones by Terry Pratchett and Robert Rankin!
I haven't read the Pullman ones, I know of them and actually own one as part of my 'buy already valuable books and/or ones that I think could be of future value) hobby. Not that I've done that in a while, like many things the book market is also depressed and I've better things to do with my money at the mo
It's good that you enjoyed it and felt that the sequels were good ones rather than the cash cow, I know what you mean!
Regards

Thanks Tilly, you're right about home being the best place to be. I think even if I wasn't under the weather that is still good advice. Don't know what your place is like but we are up to about 8 inches of snow now and it's pretty much not stopped since about 8 this morning
Enjoy your lunch, I hope you are at home today too?
