A few posts ago I mentioned that I had spent £140 on a special present for someone. Well... I liked it so much i've now also bought one for myself

I won't tell the other person I've done that though as wouldn't want to spoil the moment etc and I don't think it would be very nice so I'll be keeping schtum

Yesterday I opened three new savings account to replace ones whereby the rate had come to an end. Two of them relate to small monthly payments that I save for small members of the family so I don't count this money as mine and it's likely to be a very long time before there is a 'lot' of money in there

Next week I'll need to open another two as again, I have two accounts with the rate expiring. One of those is where I send my monthly car payment so save for all the necessary items like road tax, insurance, etc etc. The other is what I think of as 'general' savings and i need to get a bit tighter with this as sometimes it feels a bit like the flip of a coin as to whether money gets OP'd or saved. I must add that any money send to the general savings account is always after I have OP'd my minimum of £500 and saved mimimum of £500.

Right, i think a milky coffee and maybe some ice-cream is in order while I catch-up with a few more diaries.

    Regards

Hey ATT, right back at you, just read your journey so far, looks like you too are well on top of it. You been looking at what car you are going to buy when you are mortgage free? If I do it in time I want to be Mortgage free before the 2019 England tour to the W Indies!

Thanks Tilly, I need a Mr T, have you thought about the extra cash you could generate by selling his handyman services to your fellow MFW'ers :rotfl::rotfl:

I got a few decorating quotes a year ago, I know exactly what I want and who will be doing the job but I put it off for a couple of reasons 1) was delaying spending the money 2) trying to have a top to bottom house sort and clean before the decorating. The sorting is going well but it's always time that's the enemy isn't it. I'm far from a hoarder but some of the stuff I sort out makes you just think why on earth do I have this in the first place!

I think this week will be at least 4 NSD's so that's good

    Have a great week all

    Hi Inigma

Blimey, did you read my whole diary, if so hope it helped you sleep last night ;)

If you had asked me the 'what car do I want' question five years ago I could have given you an instant reply with at least 5 different cars', however, nowadays I have a different focus and outlook and would just begrude the money on the car, particulalry as I drive VERY little now.

I do think it's good to reward oneself though and having some thoughts about the end reward being a certain piece of jewellry :p

I think your West Indies tour is an amazing target which will certainly help to keep you focussed. I know a couple of people who have done it and loved every single second

So... the last two weekends have been taken up with mahoosive to-do lists. Still so much to do but feel like things are getting there. Mind you, half the to-do lists seem to be for other people but it's good to help out isn't it.

On that note, the Nationwide Flex that I opened for family member is irritating me. Did it on-line with no problem and the message seemed to suggest that they would follow up with some paperwork in the post for extra information needed. I expected something like that as no exisiting connection to them

First came the debit card (even though had specifically ticked the box to not have opne) so this was the first indication that the account must have been opened. Then followed by reams of this and that. They did say would take up to two weeks for everything to come and it's just coming up to that now but the card reader is not here yet so we still can't put any money in the account

In my usual 'not posted for ages so lets have a scattergun update of what's been happening fashion'...

Amex cashback stands at 37.11. I'm beginning to think using Amex as my main card is no longer a good idea. The reason is that my Tesco card is my backup card for places that don't take Amex. Very little spend goes through the Tesco card yet I still get a lovely little pile of vouchers most months.

I've also finally registered for Clubcard vouchers and there looks to be some pretty impressive offers there. So, i've decided for the next two months to only use my Tesco CC and see what vouchers I get and how that compares to the Amex cashback

Just had a peep at my Sa1nsburys points and they stand at £44.09. Not sure what my B00ts card has on it but probably around £10

I also plan to have a look at a couple of hotel loyalty card schemes I have. My travel has totally changed now in terms of regularity of going to certain places and using certain hotels. So I'm going to see what my points status is on two of them and see if I can redeem the points in other ways

I've made a couple of smaller OP's on top of the main one so that's good (need to update my signature in a mo)

Last week FB did the first chart update for we MfIT T3 challengers and I was in the yellow and £738 behind where I should be to be on track but not too concerned at that.

I had my annual work appraisal last month and have just found out my payrise and bonus. The payrise was on the small side but that was no suprise re where I am on pay scale and the econom in general, however, still nice to get a payrise nonetheless

My bonus was a different matter and really exceeded any expectations I might have had! In fact was probably 3-4 times more that I was expecting. It is staggered and subject to some conditions and part cash/part shares so it's not like I can get my grubby little hands on it all now :D:D So, all in all very pleased at the pay rise and bonus.

However.. I did spend some of it yesterday :o Bought a shiny new laptop as only really have shared access to one and it's ancient anyway. I'm going to start and get it all set up this afternoon and then hopefully will be able to update more often as it's really painful trying to update either from work one (which is a bit naughty anyway) or from shared access one

Did manage to be MSE about the purchase though and got some cashback and a couple of freebies :p

Nice news about the bonus and pay rise well done I think you definitely deserved a new laptop. Shares are good too I only have one type left but I love looking at the share price.

Good luck with setting it up hope to goes smoothly.
