And.. DD2 has just lost her third tooth in 3 days!!!!!!!!!! I think she has scurvy!!

My DD is the same, she is 9 1/2 and the orthodentist was telling me today that she has the mouth of a 14 year old. She has 1 more tooth to loose and then will need some removed and a brace fitted but hes not sure she is mentally old enough and doesn't want to start treatment yet, i've to take her back in 6 months.

Ps Yes I'm sure my aunt would love to adopt you, she sometimes feels that because they are very quiet and on there own that no one wants to visit - its soooo not true both me and my brother go up at least once a year because of the animals and its so different to our life in the city.

Thank god it is bedtime. DS was being a right little sod. Running across the settee, slapping me round the back of the head, running off, kicking me. I was hoping DH would be in at a sensible time to save me struggling upstairs with him and then getting him into the cot. Not a chance.

Do they get better? I am feeling bad now as i lost my rag while changing a dirty nappy and ended up slapping his leg. It was the only thing that stopped him after a kick hit my stomach.

Might send DH back out for chocolate, or i might eat the rest of DS's easter egg.

Children. Remind me why i am having a 2nd one.

MOAM forgot to say earlier what a relief, i am glad it is all ok.

Pigpen, what works for my son with 'minus' numbers if that is the issue is explaining it as '-8 is short for 0-8' once all these numbers became '0 minus something' it seemed to click. Let him write down the numbers that way at first so it's

    0-8, 0-2, 0, 2, 8

then just take away those 'missing 0s'

    -8,-2, 0, 2, 8

They don't do what isn't there these little spectrum peeps, zero is there as representing 'nothing', but the concept of something less than zero is even more tricky, maybe worth a try? Oh colour coding the numbers might help too - numbers in blue, positive in red etc....something else which helped DS1, he circled the negative numbers in blue, positive in red, then put them in order, we of course explained blues go backwards and reds go forwards.....

Then there is numberlines where you can just provide the line of numbers until he gets used to it? Sorry but for me positive children are better than educated children :p I'd rather my son was helped and happy than sad and struggling.

    minefiled isn't it?

I'll be back later, that took some trying to explain, hope it helps (and doesn't confuse you :o )

In the middle of fathoming medical statistics for bladder cancer effecting people who drink black tea, my this coursework touches some of the finer things in life the last one was on cot death :(
One day I might be more organised...........

I've figured out what he can't do... he can't do the ones which don't have the 0 in the list of numbers.. .. hhmmmm....

6, -4, 3, -8, 8.... it hasn't got a 0... his teacher said 'put the 0 in the middle and work form there'... and there isn't one!!

good job I have a brain cell!

Tia.. it'll do providing it gets done!! The teacher kept him back 10 minutes to expain it to him.. basically they have to order numbers eg.. they are given -2, 0, 3, -8, 8 and have to put them in the correct order.. like a timeline.. but he simply doesn't 'get it'..

Pity, it's on big brain accadmey for the DS and the wii. Balloons with the numbers in, you have to shoot them in the correct order.

perhaps he could write them down on bits of paper and sort them out that way?

    OR!!

As it was explained to me....

Stand in the middle of a room. Someone has to shout out a number, either positive or minus. Positives, you step forward. Minus you step backwards. You see the - is because they go backwards, and you walk backwards counting, but you don't count backwards.

    Anyway, made me remember it.
