Its becoming difficult to choose which one to settle with - as the VOIP prices seem to fluctuate constantly.

It's not a very good business models for consumers really. It's very unsettling for the customers and in that way doesn't make good business sense.

I signed up to voipcheap a couple of days ago specifically to make use of free calsl to Australian landlines. I like others am not amused at this price increase but I know it was to be expected.

Call me stupid but I didn't realise that voipcheap doesn't support SIP, which is damn annoying as their SIP service is still offering free calls to Australian landlines.

I just noticed last night that VoipCheap is offering free inbound numbers. The only condition seems to be that your account is in credit. I thought some of you might be interested. I did try myself but as I am only 2p in credit it didn't work for me or it may be my geographic location. If any one is successful please let me know. Thanks

I also have an incoming sipgate number but wanted to check out all the options.
Do you have more that 2p credit?
  • I was able to sign up for the voipcheap number but prefer the sipgate incoming number because you have a choice of how to receive calls (including hardware ATA). Also you can set up a free voicemail and get emails when any messages are left

Learn from the mistakes of others - you won't live long enough to make them all yourself.

Not sure exactly how much credit, just that you need to be in credit.

    Ditto for me.
Before you buy Google Nest or British Gas Hive check out ESPproMon the Android and iOS Smartphone app that helps you build the same system from just £30.

I also use Sipgate for my main incoming number. I don't have voicemail enabled on that, as it's not fair on my callers to be charged for no answer and get through to voicemail, so I have another Sipgate number that is just for voicemail, therefore if there is no answer on my usual Sipgate number they can call my voicemail number if they want to leave a message.

VoIP Cheap emailed me not too long ago and said the do hope to allow ATA use so that those of use who have dropped the landline can use them as a replacement.
