mhe-I'll do my best to try and explain!!! The theory is that male sperm (xy) swims faster than the female sperm(xx) althought the xy sperm swims slower therfore has more longevity. it's all about timing of your cycle, For a girl you have to have sex everyday up untill about day nine of your cycle,if you have sex after this you must use contraception(this assumes you ovulate on day 14 and have a 28 day cycle). The xy sperm would have raced to fertilised the egg but as you have not ovulated they perish leaving the xx sperm slowly swimming away and reaching the egg just as it is ovulated. For a boy you must have infrequent sex untill day 13 and 14 when you ovulate. There was loads of statistics in the book, and scientific stuff to back it all up. the author advises to study your cycle so you know when you ovulate. I have a regualar 28 day cycle so it was easy for me to know all of this. Phew!!! hope that makes sense! if you want to pm me feel free!! Love Sharron

I'm currently trying this method - I'll let you know!!

    The theroy is this

At ovulation, the ovary releases an egg into the fallopian tubes. This egg moves down the fallopian tubes-if it meets sperm on the way, it will be fertilised. If not, it will be expelled, unfertilized during menstruation.

The sperm detemines the sex of the baby. Male sperm are faster swimming than female sperm but don't have the endurance (many female readers will be nodding knowingly) Female sperm are slower off the mark but can go the distance and will soon overtake the male sperm who raced ahead but are now tired.

It therefore follows that, since all the sperm entered the cervix at the same time, if the egg is far up the fallopian tube (ie just been "ovulated"), any sperm wishing to reach it will need to be able to go the distance....

If the egg is far down the fallopian tube (nearer the uterus or womb), there is not such a great distance to go and typically, the fastest off the mark will reach it first, no stamina is required

Therefore, if hoping for a female, sex during early ovulation gives the best chances. If hoping for a male, a few days after ovulation (when the egg has had time to move down the tube, closer to the "starting point" of the "competitors" will give the best chances
