That's wrong, the training pack says Tesco do accept internet coupons, with the same restrictions for printed MOC's (1 per type if not buying product, unlimited amount per transaction).

The updated training pack included details about how to check for serial numbers to ensure the net coupons weren't being photocopied, but printed.

I bought £6 worth of fruit and veg shopping from tesco 2 days ago and got the bill down to 32p using internet coupons - the £2 and £1 off nicorette ones went through fine. Nice sa! This was tesco Westwood Cross in Kent.

my wife and i gonna stop shopping at tesco - we hardly ever use coupons and when we do we get the third degree interrogation routine. usually lots of humms and aaas, calling over the duty manager - makes the whole experience embarrassing and unnecessary. we never try to use coupons for products we haven't actually bought.... like i said...will probbabyl start shopping elsewhere and give my loyal clubcard the boot!

Iused to use coupon net coupons until the otherday when i tired to use £4 worth on the self scan till the vouchers refused to scan even though previously never had any problems with them it alerted an assistant who came over looked at the vouchers and said sorry you cant use these unless you actually have the product in the basket, apparently at this store they have been told by head office any coupons now being used on self service tills have to be verified by staff.. They have even started taping up the slots also :(

Unfortunately you can't blame em for that, as some people see the self scan as a good way to put any old coupon through, like Daily mail book tokens and coupons for other stores or out of date ones. If too many people have done it, they'll need a CA to check em all.

There were supervisors muttering yesterday as I put my shop through. Miserable gits. probably jealous, but makes me think they'll likely be stopping it again soon.

  • We should treat using coupons as a bonus, not a right. However, i solely agree that there can sometimes be some stingy assistants out there who are jelous of your savings! Luckily for me, my coupon policys great. Got a friend who works in ASDA, she said they will accept all coupons (that bide by the rules) against any product if they are in date, not defaced etc, and you dont have to buy the specific product. Some people are abusing this bonus, so as a result, a lot of stores have discontinued this policy which is really kind, so we should treat it with respect.

Your training pack has been doctored then!

Not joking, the training packs should say 'do accept' internet coupons, just as per the policy wording that came down on a CSM Daily Update in June last year. I have seen the wording.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

They are lucky to have a training pack at all! I have just started working in a new Tesco store and the only mention of coupons was that the customer must buy the product for it to be accepted, no mention of other types of coupons. Obviously coupon policy changes from store to store but with no clear rules IMO it's going to be down to the SA/supervisor on at the time. When there's so much discrepancy within one store how on earth are customers meant to respond? Just glad I'm not going to be on checkouts ;)

I agree, Dee. We notice the same things!

Another example is their four-packs of baking potatoes which were 55p in January, now they are something like 74p. Also bread & milk have gone up by a similar percentage.

I am just so glad I pay about 95% in coupons rather than real cash...

If they change the policy I would go wherever would take the coupons, be it Asda, Waitrose or whoever had the policy at the time.

Where do all the coupons come from? Is it just the ones from newspapers/magazines?

Am i being thick? are you guys trying to use money off coupons for products you HAVEN'T bought?
Pardon my stupidity but why should Tesco et al accept money off coupons for products you haven't even got in your shopping? Presumably if you buy say, Lurpak and you have a 25p off coupon and you do actually buy it, the coupon will still work?
Edit to say - I'm not having a go at anyone, but i can't see why anyone is surprised by these coupons not working?
