Tesco no longer accepts manufacturers coupons.

Well i`ve just been to tesco. Being on a budget i handed over a few coupons some tesco and some manufacturer coupons and was told by 2 assistants and a manager that tesco no longer accepts "manufacturers coupons" only tesco or sainsburys coupons.

I cant believe this, a corporate company aimed at making a profit cant they understand members of the public trying to save a couple of quid if they can.

Anyone else had this experience or is it just the dunstable tesco??

If this is a new tesco policy i shall take my business to sainsburys or asda from now on.

DO you use coupons when you buy groceries?? 277 votes

I used a manufacturer's coupon last week and was told that if Tesco actually sell the product then they will accept it. But, if you are using it & have not bought the product, they will only take 1 coupon.

    (Hope that makes sense)

Maybe its just that duty manager or the dunstable store as i did buy the things, but she only accepted the tesco coupons, and told me that they dont accept any manufacturer coupons now. The duty manager came and confirmed this too.

I think it sucks as a tesco policy and surely a duty manager cant make that decision unilaterally.

I've also been using coupons for a long time now and handed over my usual pile last week and the lad i go to called the supervisor and she just handed them all back and said "we don't accept these". So the next day i went to another Tesco 20 miles away where again i've always used my coupons and decided to go through the self scan till, had a £45 spend put one coupon (pampers £1) through and it called for assisatnce, the SA made a big thing of saying she needed to see what coupon i used and 10 minutes later came back with the keys, by this time a big queue behind me with peple tutting, i felt so embarressed, she opened up the slot amd spent ages reading it and said i couldn't use it as i never brought the product.

I`ve been using them ok,but have to travel with my work,& find that different stores certainly seem to have different policies:mad: However, this seems to indicate that more major changes are on their way to ALL the stores-not good news for those of us who are trying to save a bit of money:confused:
