Hi,
I don't shop in Tesco's, but i am gathering that only small, local stores have an open coupon policy. I would reccomend you to try shopping at ASDA with all of the coupons you have, because i do and they take coupons without buying the product no problems.
If you write to TESCO and ask them what their coupon policy is, if you dont have to buy the product, show the person at the checkout the reply you got.
I think ASDA is better coupon-wise.
Best Wishes,

I used coupons yesterday. The s/a said just give me what you,ve got and I,ll try them. Also said, of the waitrose one, and we take coupons from other stores too so thats ok. Only paid 22p for my shopping which included a bottle of wine, I was happily stunned. I also get them taken in Asda.:T:jDabbler in all things moneysaving.Master of none:o

I used a £1.50 coupon this week in Crewe Tesco, no problems or any mention of policy changes.

I would be interested to know if Tesco is getting flack for letting people use coupons on items they didn't buy, as this is basically fraud on Tesco's part. It must cost the manufacturers tons when they pay Tesco back for coupons used on "sales" of their products that never took place. If I were a business - particularly one like Marie Claire that does large-value coupons - I would either stop issuing coupons (which hurts people who actually want to buy the product), or I'd stop accepting them from Tesco. Maybe that's what's happening.0

Maybe its just that duty manager or the dunstable store as i did buy the things, but she only accepted the tesco coupons, and told me that they dont accept any manufacturer coupons now. The duty manager came and confirmed this too.
I think it sucks as a tesco policy and surely a duty manager cant make that decision unilaterally.
As for people using coupons for things they haven't bought, please let's not make this thread yet another argument about the rights and wrongs of it. :cool:0 -
My Tesco store still accepting coupons, have recently accepted big yellow Somerfield "£ of a £30 spend" type though I think it depends entirely on the cashier tbh.
I have watched Tesco store prices go up a lot recently and wouldn't be at all surprised if they stop accepting coupons altogether, such is their loyal following and huge profits. I have been trying to use as many coupons as I can recently but have always thought of the coupon thing as a 'bonus' not an automatic 'right'. I really hope Tesco continue to accept coupons but am now looking at ways of reducing our monthly grocery spend and shopping elsewhere.0 -
I simply cannot believe that you all have strict coupon policys. I think thst using coupons, when you buy the product is a RIGHT, but when you get money-off for productd you do not purchase in your transaction, is a BONUS.
I think Tesco may be getting rid of it's coupon policy because people are abusing it. Like...
~putting blanks in the self scan machines
~using store specific coupon
~using coupons tesco cant redeem
~expired coupons
~defaced coupons
~invalid coupons
