At 16" screen this may be a bit smaller than you were thinking about but I have this TV in the kitchen with freeview digital tuner so no box needed. Great picture and as I have good reception it runs off an inside aerial.

:rotfl: oh happy memories, when we first moved down here, we were gazumped, so ended up moving in with a friend who'd moved before us. he was renting a small 3 bed semi, with one loo in the bathroom. And there were 5 of us.seven-day-weekend wrote: »How to cram five adults into one small terraced house with one bathroom....all donations gratefully received!
He had one bedroom, we had another, and all 3 boys went in the 3rd, DS3 on a small mattress on the floor because no room for a bed! He didn't get enough sleep because he never went to sleep before DS1 came up, and he got woken up at crack of dawn every morning when DS1 got up for the school bus. He got so tired the school thought he might be depressed ...
I couldn't use the washing machine last thing at night because it kept our friend awake. I couldn't use it first thing in the morning because it interfered with his shower. Getting in to use the loo before the school run was a black art ... oh, and I couldn't run the washing machine and the tumble drier at the same time or I tripped all the electrics!
DH was running a training course, and the students kept dropping in for lunch and eating the food I'd intended for the boys' tea. I never knew how many would be with us for the evening meal, although I didn't always cook it. The only thing which kept life semi-bearable was that we had a large kitchen diner for meals, and two reception rooms downstairs.
Anyway, we survived, and after a few months some bright spark suggested that we should buy a house with this friend, because together we could get something large enough whereas on our own we probably couldn't (prices going up at the time).
11 years later we're still sharing that house. But it has 3 toilets, even if only 2 of them 'work'.
I hope your summer plans work as well as ours did!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Thanks Savvy Sue, that sounds like various situations we have had with lodgers over the years!

Washing machine, there's only me ever seems to use it (everyone else leaves their laundry for so long they end up going to the launderette), so that is not usually a problem. Plus it is downstairs in the utility room and disturbs nobody.
Toilet/bathroom, we usually manage as my son's girlfriend has to get up at about five to get to work for seven so has her shower then, the two lads normally don't have to go in till later so have their shower before they go , I tend to have my bath before I go to bed and hubby fits in when he can.
The kitchen is TINY and with more than two people in is full, especially if one is cooking. However if we are there, we tend to cook for our son and girlfriend too, so only have to fit in with the lodger (sonetimes we cook for him as well).
The dishwasher - well I only bought it last year and it only ever seemed to be me who unloaded it, (althought the 'kids' would load it).
We are borrowing friends' house for a week in July, are going away for a few days to a wedding in Wales in August (my husband is Best Man) and have a house exchange holiday in Shropshire (exchanging our Spanish house) for a month from the middle of September. Also at some point we will have a few days with friends in Yorkshire. So there will be breaks.
All in all we will manage and I for one am looking forward to the city and getting away from the heat.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Been too busy to post lately - garden and trips with U3A.
Off to see aunt in Ashford tomorrow, then off to Spain. Huelva. Our first ever Saga holiday.
Take care, all.

Five days after our return we are off to Spain until the third week of August. Facing the heat for a change.:o
We had suggested DS & GF came down to Cornwall and had a couple of nights B&B on us of course, until we checked oiut B&B prices:eek::eek: In the end they are coming over to Spain in August for my birthday dgfor 5 days, and costing no more!Member #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Enjoy Spain in July and August DG. I'm afraid it's too hot for me already, glad I am going to the UK to face the rain.
This year I am also suffering from hayfever, something I've not had this badly since I was a child; the grasses are all seeding and I suppose there is more of it after all the rain. My eyes are streaming and my nose is blocked.
That will soon go in my home town, I'm sure!(AKA HRH_MUngo)

We are taking a tent to France on Sunday. Talked into it by friends. Not sure where exactly we are going, starting off point will be Roscoff. My one previous experience of camping was awful hoping this one will be an improvement.
Any tips welcomed.Away with the fairies.... Back soon0 -
balmaiden, we always used to camp, it's only really been since the turn of the century that we have stopped. I used to love it, especially when Ben was little and we had the dog, we usually used to take his mate (Ben's, not the dog's
) as well, it was great fun.
When we had our boat and used to take it out in January and camp it was a bit dire and I don't want to return to that kind of muddy fields camping. But camping in a tent in nice weather and cooking 'camp stew' on a camping stove and then splitting a bottle of wine watching the sun go down is great.
Enjoy.
(About my hay fever, apparently it's probably olive pollen that is causing it -I've found out it's the most common allergen for hayfever in Mediterranean countries).(AKA HRH_MUngo)
