Arrived home today. Repatriated via Airfrance to Paris, then Heathrow and then Newcastle. Had an absolutely fantastic week in Los Angeles. Could not fault British Airways ... and the people of LA pulled out all the stops for us to.

SKI-ing from 27th April on the Costa del Sol at Marbella where all the celebs and millionaires live.... they'll get a shock when we hicks from the sticks arrive. I'm sure they will think our car should be in a museum.

Apartment all free and kindly lent to us by my husband's cousin's son-in-law (who is one of the aforesaid millionaires) - cousin and her husband will be joining us.

    Sun, sea, sand and sangria.

Have as ball SDW - sounds lovely. I am off to Amsterdam tomorrow, 2 weeks of family and friends and long lunches and dinners. That will be a diet then in two weeks - sigh!

    Wow, SDW!

And have a lovely time in Amsterdam, MW. I've never been there in good weather, so it's definitely on the list!

Well, we have returned from Millionaire del Sol for one night to our little village in the mountains. Going back tomorrow until Monday.

The reason we have returned is that the owners of our apartment (distant relatives of my husband's) are having a new kitchen in their villa in Puerto Banus and have thrown into a skip a beautiful antique pine dresser and a butler's sink.

We, being tightwad peasants, have snaffled them. But we have had to deliver them back to our house because we are picking friends up from Malaga airport on Monday and there will not be room for them in the car otherwise. We have a seven-seater people carrier and with all the seats out it is HUGE inside. (We only usually have our seats plus two others in anyway - we have left the two seats in the garage at the apartment!).

Anyway, our apartment is at Las Chapas, which is the other side of Marbella from Puerto Banus. The apartment and comples is really nice and we are hoping they will let us use it again. We were completely underwhelmed with their Villa at Puerto Banus....if I'd spent over a million on a place to live I would not want it to be on an estate and greatly overlooked, although it is big and very posh. We were not terribly impressed with Puerto Banus in general, far too much bling and conspicuous wealth.

However, we have been made very welcome and it was very kind of them to let us have the apartment free.

The whole area so different to where we live , including the weather, that we feel we have been abroad! Done nothing except lazed around by the pool I'm afraid, but that is what you do on those sort of holidays, isn't it?

Anyway, back to the Good Life tomorrow for the weekend! It's a hard life but someone has to do it.

The link doesn't seem to work but if you put this in without the spaces you will be able to see where our apartment is:

    Hi everyone
We have change out ski-ing plans so thought I would bring you all up to date.
Having just over 3 weeks in the 'van starting BH weekend, Nottingham, Somerset then Cornwall for 2 of the 3 weeks. Returning home for 3 days, then driving back to Spain until 3rd week of August. Followed by more outings in the 'van.
    Fancying topping up the tan.

SKI-ing to the UK on Sunday 13th until somewhere around the beginning of November.

We still have not properly sorted the accommodation in our UK house so that all five of us are comfortable.

Latest plan is, we have the front sitting room as our bedsit, then our son and girlfriend don't have to give their bed up (it means them sleeping in a single bed otherwise). Problem is, the TV and Virgin box are in this room. So - and this is where the SKI-ing comes in - We will buy a small telly and Freeview box and set it up for them in the other downstairs room. Neither they nor the lodger watch the TV much anyway. We are also going to buy a proper sofa bed for the front room otherwise it means one of us has to sleep on an airbed.

Our clothes will be on a clothes rail up a corner in their bedroom; this won't be a problem, we have that all sorted.

The house does have three bedrooms, but the third one is up in the eaves and only has a single bed in it, (we could put a double up there), plus all our son's and girlfriends computer stuff. Also my husband has to do some quite extensive repairs to this room this year, so really could do without anyone sleeping in it. Maybe next year we could get a double bed and son/girlfriend use it whilst we have the other double room. Lodger is firmly ensconced in single room.

How to cram five adults into one small terraced house with one bathroom....all donations gratefully received!
