Any other ski-ers due to fly in the next few days? We are supposed to be flying to Turkey from Bristol on Monday evening. Resigning myself to thinking that it is probably not going to happen. It's the not knowing that I find difficult, but, hey at least it's not terrorists that are to blame

The one whose inheritance I'm spending (i.e. my son) is due to fly out of Birmingham early on Tuesday with his girlfriend to come to visit us here in Spain.

As they both have Aspergers' Syndrome ( an Autistic Spectrum Disorder), the have both reacted in a typically AS fashion. My son's girlfriend has been crying because as well as the disappointment if they can't come, she finds the change of plan very unsettling. My son is far more philosophical because he is interested in the volcanic ash cloud and that outweighs the disappointment.

Anyway, I hope they can come, I hate to think of J*** being so upset. My son is trying to think of an alternative option in case they can't.

As neither of them drive and they don't have much money, methinks Bank of Mum and Dad will have to come to the rescue, especially as the flight was their Christmas and Birthday presents. :(

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

Totally SDW - we do it all the time. We would rather see our DS enjoy our generosity than not see it if we are not around. DG

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?

Even though I am obviously concerned about our holiday plans, I love looking into our blue cornish sky and seeing nothing but blue, no plane vapour . Even when we have a cloudless sky you get used to seeing countless trails. To see wall to wall blue is beautiful.

Would you believe that I am stuck in Los Angeles with British Airways picking up the tab for 12 nights full board in the 4 star Marriott? Having to spend a bit less of the inheritance at the moment, although the old credit card has taken quite a bashing lately!

    Wow! Sloan, you jammy thing!

How did you you manage to get through to them, though? When we were stuck in Florida, at DS's place, we had awful trouble.

We had to hire a car again, but could see a way to claim.

    Enjoy it while you can!

We just went straight from cruise ship at Long Beach to LAX on Sunday. Chaos was prevailing. They had put the 1st class passengers and pilots in the Marriott from Thursday and starting filling the cheaper hotels. When the Radisson was filled, they had to put us in the Marriott. We were told at first that they were paying the first four days, but then we had a message to say that that they had been instructed by Lord Adonis to pick up all accommodation/food bills until we could be repatriated. They rebboked us for April 30th, but we are hoping that they may be able to get us back sooner ... but not too soon! We went to Hollywood yesterday and are going to Beverly Hills today.
