The weather is beautiful MC, pack a raincoat as thunderstorm are threatened. No guarantee they will materialise though. DG

Thank you. Yes, I thought I would go to the airport in my light showercoat over my other things then I could take it off when we get on the plane. That same showercoat went all round the Western Isles and Highlands back in June and never found its way out of the bottom of the suitcase! The 'holiday clothes' I bought at the Gretna shopping outlet will come in again - linen trousers and shirts, loose and comfortable. Trousers can go over my tankini bottoms and I can walk into the sea from that beautiful beach near the hotel (hopefully!)

Keep an eye on the UK weather MC, the storm will probably affect flights from Essex on Monday and you may have a delay.

Yes, the weatherman on radio 5 yesterday said that he thought flights particularly in the south of england would be affected.

Yes, will do that, thanks. It's easy to get on to easyJet's website and keep a watch on the flight schedules, and we're only half a mile from the airport anyway. We could walk it, if we could walk - as it is, airport taxis are very efficient. easyJet emailed me yesterday and reminded me that it was only 48 hours to fly away, remember to be at the airport 2 hours before take-off, which means we should leave home no later than 2.30 pm. We'll just have one suitcase and I'll take my handbag, DH will take the little netbook in a bag and that will be our carry-on luggage.

Flights being delayed, estimated take-off time been revised more than once. Not leaving until at least 7 pm now (should have been 4.40 pm) and arriving after 11 pm.

Keeping an eye on easyJet's flight schedule on their site. What on earth would we do if we were like some 'elderly people' whom we hear about, who can't switch on a computer? We might have booked a taxi and arrived at the airport only to sit around for hours.

We've been in touch with the Hospes Amerigo, Alicante, and they seemed very understanding. Nothing anyone can do, is there?

At least hopefully you will get away, there have been numerous flights cancelled today.

In fairness MC all the news and weather broadcasts have advised people to check with airports before travelling.

Hope you get away and enjoy your holiday.

Thanks for the good wishes. What I meant was, being able to log on to easyJet's site and get the latest update has been a godsend, and I'm so glad we're able to do that. Actually I don't think we'd have been able to do it at all if we couldn't go online - do the booking with easyJet, pay for it, check in online, get our boarding passes, the lot. And book the hotel, which we did separately and not through easyJet.

The time keeps changing - was put back to 7 pm but now it's 5 pm again. We leave here by taxi at 3 pm come what may even if we have to sit around in the airport for who knows how long.

Looking forward to tapas in the hotel bar at whatever time we finally get there!

Bumping thread, so quiet lately! Is no one gallivanting?

We are off to the USA on Saturday to help DS look after the gorgeous boys when DIL Is away at a conference.

    Can't wait!
