Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?
  • Off to Mexico for two weeks in March which will get rid of some money, but the big one this year is a trip to Oz for a month to visit youngest son. Hope he doesn't mind me spending his inheritance on actually visiting him!

It's soooo cold here in New Jersey!

However, the roads, car parks etc have been cleared of snow and it's easy to get about.

Not keen on open plan houses in the cold, though. Rather be in my cosy living room, with the door closed!

I have just spent a few hours skimming through all the posts. You have all made me laugh, commiserate, be jealous of the huge trips and humbled through your problems with health issues and family trials etc.

I am 58 and OH is 48 (lucky me) but I won't get my state pension until 67 so rely on him working etc. he can take a reduced company pension at 55 so we have a while to go but are seriously thinking of selling up now as we have a house in North Cyprus (hello Sloan).

We could manage on savings and house sale (once paid of all mortgages) giving us a interest income and then maybe having to spend some of those savings nearer his 55th.
Then I get my pension two years later then at his 65 his other work pension and then maybe if they still give one a state pension about age 70?

Had issues with both my my kids over the years and have now had to let it go and accept I will not see them again. I also have four grandchildren two of which I will never see. The other two I didn't even meet until they were 13 and 14 and didn't know of there existence just a couple of years before that. So it's a bit odd to integrate into their life. I do have two step children and one has just moved back in so that didn't help with the thinking process.

So I am happy to spend and enjoy life but it's all a bit in the up in the air finger to the wind stage right now lol
