I ended up pre-ordering mine off Dixons.com. I had a preorder with Play.com originally buy I got the impression from them that they weren't able to give me any indication of when I was likely to receive mine so I cancelled and switched to Dixons.
Ordered the afternoon of the 26/10/05… the websites now changed to say
* Availability will be limited at release. Any pre-orders from now on (27/10/05) will not be available for launch but should be delivered in time for Christmas 2005.
I guess this means that anyone that ordered before is due for delivery on release date… hopefully!0 -
My friend just ordered the one from comet, sadly he could only get a choice of one game whilst I got gotham racing0

Wondered whether anyone else had pre-ordered the xbox from Asda (I placed the order on the 7th October and received this e-mail yesterday):
Dear ASDA Customer,
Re your order no XXXXXXX for Xbox 360 Console
Please be advised that we have just received an indicative, although still unconfirmed, initial allocation of the console.
I regret that if this allocation is not increased, which is extremely unlikely, we will not be able to fulfil your order in time for Christmas delivery.
Unless, you advise otherwise, we will hold your order open pending further allocation.
We deeply regret this inconvenience caused but thought it best to communicate this as soon as possible to you.
With regards
ASDA Entertainment Team
Also wondered if anyone knows the best place to try (!!!) and still get one before xmas.
Many thanks,0 -

I think you will be out of luck for getting one in time for christmas as with the hype and Microsoft only releasing small shipments it keeps consumers interested for longer. You could try ebay but people are paying stupid money for them and I would rather wait until after christmas once the hype has died down and maybe get a package deal0 -
I preordered a couple of months back (I think) from Dixons and used one of the vouchers found in the 'discount voucher' sectionYou'll Never Be Rich Working for Someone Else0

I agree with most of this post, as it will be difficult to get hold of one, you may stand a chance with place that dont do preorders, eg WHSmith and Woolies, but you will have to be quick, you could also try getting in the stores at midnight with 24 hour Tesco's, you may be lucky enough to pick one of the shelf.... With the whole Microsoft are releasing small shipments thats only a part truth, as they are the only company to do a global release and as we are in the third priority market, we will get less than America and Japan... But also they want to be the first next gen console on the market, meaning that units could be being rushed to be produced, so this might mean the quality slips, I would personnally not rush into buying this console, its overpriced and the games are too, also the launch list of games is very limited, i reckon you would best bet would be wait and buy it in Feb/Mar time, as there will be a price drop, and also a lot more games....0 -

Its highly unlikely that there will be a price drop in march, if it follows the previous consoles it will be aprox 6 months down the line or in this case probably when the ps3 is due for launch. I would harldy call the list of games limited with over 20 due out by xmas thats a pretty good selection!

OH hasn't preordered his yet and is starting to panic. There's no point in me looking for him as I'd only get the wrong one.My mind not only wanders .......... sometimes it leaves completely0
