Hey,
Pricing information of the upcoming (around xmas '05) Xbox console has recently been released:
There will be a 'core' system, RRP £209.99, consisting of the console and controller.
There will also be a 'full' system, RRP £279.99, similar to above but with a 20GB removeable Hard drive, xbox live headset and HD AV cable.
so..
So far I have found the following preorders:
Amazon:
Standard Pack - £209.99
Deluxe Pack - £279.99
Seen any cheaper/similar prices, or any good value bundles?

I'd be very interested to hear of any cheaper0

I very mush doubt there will be any cheaper as this is the price that was mentioned at the launch in America. So microsoft will be maintaining the prices - plus they have a pretty captive market. We are just going to order ours from the game at the same price and at least we get the points. But initally I dont think the price will vary.0

I'm gonna wait til next Spring when the PS3 and (more importantly) Halo 3 are launched, with fingers crossed that there'll have been a price-cut by then (on the XB360)..
Have fond memories of getting my X-Box on launch day in March 2002 as a prize from work. It was launched at £300 but within a few months was cut to £200 and all those that had shelled out the higher price could apply to Microsoft for £100 worth of free games and accessories. Of course they didn't know I hadn't actually paid for mine.."I am not Geoff Vadar, I'm Darth Vadar"0 -
You might be waiting longer than until Spring as Sony have no definate release date and rumour has it are having yield problems with their CPU. Also the spring launch is probably Japan only at best.
Also their is no guarantee Microsoft will drop the price. Sony have to pay for a $150 BlueRay player in every unit, so the PS3 is likely to be expensive!
Also for maybe a £50 price drop you will have lost 5 at least months of being able to play it...0 -
Not worried about waiting to play it so much, since at the end of the day it's not like the next-gen games are going to suddenly have a massive jump in playability simply due to improved graphics.
I'm sure I can "console" myself (boom-boom!) with Halo 2 Live til it's a bit more affordable..or Halo 3 comes out at least"I am not Geoff Vadar, I'm Darth Vadar"0 -
No, its not 'like' they will. It is that they will...Have you not seen the videos? OMG. DOA3 wow. And thats not the best.
Has no one found anywhere you can preorder this for less? Surely somewhere has a voucher code etc?0 -
Don't mean to be the prophet of doom but there are a couple of worying things about Xbox 360.
I would really like an Xbox 360 but the fact that Microsoft supremo Bill Gates has stated publically that they are considering putting HD-DVD in future production runs may mean that early adopters (with the standard DVD-ROM) may get left behind fairly quickly. Several key developers have already stated their unhappiness at the limited nature of the standard drive and, given that the PS3 is using the far higher capacity Blu-ray DVD, this may mean that the upgrade may be a reality far quicker than expected.
I have to say that none of the above is definate but if you read the industry news you'll see that MS were broadsided by the differences between Xbox 360 and PS3 and this may well be a strategy they adopt to level the playing field sometime down the line,
It's a bit of a pain as I really want to buy a 360 now but I don't want to shell out such a large amount of cash only to have to pay MS for an 'upgrade' six months down the line.0 -
You will always be able to flog it on Ebay and get a new one. It's unlikely you will need HD DVD for any games as 9 GB per disk is a LOT of space, and publishers are not going to want to restrict themselves to newer consoles only.
Cheapest so far is £7 off by going via Greasy Palm and getting 2.5% cashback from Game. Anyone beat that?0 -

I guess that more and more retailers will begin offering xbox 360 deals, offers and promotions nearer the release date... similar to the UK PSP launch..

Same prices at Play.com for the two hardware bundles. Any discount codes or vouchers for Play.com doing the rounds? He huihuinga taangata he pukenga whakaaro – A meeting of people; a wellspring of ideas (Maori proverb)0
