Just been onto amazon and they have a couple of xbox 360 pre-order games, quake 4, call of duty 2. The rrp of these games is an incredible £49.99, they are pre-ordering for £39.99. Hope that the introduction of the new generation consoles is not just going to be a means of stiffing gamers.
There are only maybe a dozen console titles in the current console generation (ps2, xbox, gamecube) that are worthy of a £50 price tag on release, so I'd hold on those rushing to order until a clearer picture of costs are apparent, ie the cost of games.0 -
Was in the game yesterday and was informed that some branches are no longer taking pre- orders for 360 xbox as they have filled their quota. The girl said at the moment they have taken orders for all the 360 stock they have been allocated, they are taking names incase they get more stock but they dont know if they will.
I fortunately pre-ordered ours a few weeks ago( to get my game points ) but my nephew hasnt, so be warned !!!0 -
HMV have pre-order for the bundle @ £279.99 - there is a code for £5.00 discount - and I think Greasypalm is 2.5%.
PC World have bundles @ £279.99 and £284.99 - but delivery on top £4.99 - 5% discount code and Greasypalm is 1.75%.0 -
Dixons have various packages - to be honest I'm confused by them all - their delivery charge is £6.99 - but there is a discount code for 5% or if you buy a bundle over £300 (some include games) then there is a £25 off code. Plus Greasypalm is 1.5%.0

I have been reading some intervies with some of the production houses who are making nex-gen games and they are concerned that the production costs that they are having to come up with is going to mean £40-50 games. It is a concern for them that gamers are not going to want to stump up this kind of money for a game ..... as you can understand!0 -
Yes, with the introduction of a new gen of consoles they're going to try increasing the price of games. I think it'll fail though, due to competition between games stores, I'd expect the games to be the same price as current gen games - which are generally sold below their RRP anyway.
If not, expect an increase in piracy.0 -
Yeah, I mean I have hundreds of games on the current consoles plus retro consoles. How many of them would I pay £50 for at release, the following I'd say :
Zelda Ocarina of Time
Zelda Windwaker
Metroid Prime
Metroid Prime Echoes
GTA San Andreas
Goldeneye
Perfect Dark
Halo 2 (maybe but very similar to first in gameplay)
Pro Evolution Soccer 4 (maybe if hadn't got previous installments)
That's about it really, the rest I'd wait for until they were reasonably priced.0 -
To pay £50 for a game is complete madness and I would be willing to pay no more than £30-£35 max. I was reading on game's site in the FAQ where asked why 360 games were so expensive. The reply was hilarious- it said that if you look at n64 games when released they were 50-60 back then which would be worth more now!! I thought that was pretty stupid seeing that vast amount of platforms etc and prices games can be bought for. Ridiculous comparison. In my honest opinion, xbox 360, ps3 and consoles in general are only good if you are either a. no good at setting up pc for gaming, b. want to play with mates in same room or c. just want pick up and play. Otherwise, I'd stay well away from consoles as PC's just have far far superior gaming quality and would beat down any console to a pulp with absolute ease anytime (oh and the game prices are far more realistic too!!)0

That depends entirely on the genre of game, I must say for FPS there ain't no beating a mouse and keyboard just because of the speed and accuracy in comparison to a pad, which tend to be slow and a bit hit and miss. Also Football management, Games like Total War, etc, are all best on the PC.
But to say that the likes of Zelda Ocarina of Time (i'd give it 99% because to be honest it is the perfect game, many critics have given it 100%), would be beaten by any PC game is well quite frankly not a reality. I suppose Half-Life 2 is fairly close although a different type of game, I'd give it somewhere around the 97% mark, but as far as I am concerned Zelda Ocarina of Time is without exception the greatest title ever, although it might be surpassed by the Zelda the twillight princess it they ever get it released looking at some of the previews, screen shots and views of the demo, a £50 game if any of them are.
Also ProEvoSoccer is also much better on the PS2 than on the PC, the pad on the PS2 is exceptional when playing this game, much better than a PC, and much better than the XBOX pad.0
