Jumble_Bee I started the new thread for the Interest Beater HERE

Bails, I've seen Weezl's budget and am in awe of it! I really need to try much harder and am doing my best to come in under budget this month.

Looby, thanks for the butter link, it brings back memories of jam jars and butter pats! Now wondering if I could make some and await the next cream clearance in store! I need to get some garlic planted now, as we already know how to make cheap baguettes :)

Marky, just out of curiosity and assuming you weren't part of this challenge how much would you be prepared to pay for getting the claws cut if someone was to turn up your doorstep to offer this service?

I'm not part of this challenge, just a lurker. But anyway I like to live frugally and I wasn't going to take 4 GPs to the vets for nail clipping at heaven-knows-how much each.

Honestly, once you've got used to how far you can cut, it's not too awful to do it yourself and I didn't begrudge doing it.

If someone was mad enough to offer to do it for £10 for all 4 GPs, then I might have taken them up on the offer, more to avoid getting scratched to death by them than anything else - they weren't very good at realising it was for their benefit.

We now have no GPs left. :( Just an empty hutch in the garden in case we feel like getting some more. Since we have DD now, we aren't sure whether we will bother in the near future, although when DD is a bit older she might like some.

On the subject of animals by the side of main roads, I saw two little bunnies on the verge at the side of the main road I drive along to work, at 8.30 this morning. I've never seen any rabbits there in daylight before. My car-sharer reckoned that their minds were on other matters ;) and that's why they were in such a silly place.

    Well done, looby-loo.

Ours used to live outside all winter (but on the patio, not the grass) and outside on the grass all summer, for many years. When they were babies, and when they were getting old, we got soft and had them living indoors instead. :)

They are very hardy especially when there are a lot of them to huddle up together, and as long as they have a bedroom off the ground.

:rotfl: :rotfl: Sorry, I really shouldn't laugh at that but it so reminded me of a friend who left their dog tied up outside the shop and went home without it!!

My next door neighbour is in the process of moving out and has left their old hen run dismantled in a heap in the middle of the back lawn. I wonder if he'd donate it to me to recycle into a portable GP run? Must ask him as soon as I see him!

My GP hutch is an old 1930's sideboard, panels in door removed from right hand side and replaced with wire netting and a hook and eye catch on the left hand door. Bit like this one

    http://antiquegalleryofgeorgetown.com/cm/images/CMM037_s.jpg

English Oak Sideboard; a diminutive piece at only 48” in length, conservatively embellished with beading, original tassel pulls and a beveled oval mirror.
    Circa 1910. CMM037
    $595.00

At that price it looks like that was a bad move:o

    Morning all,

Bank account has been reconciled again (GN winnings have been deposited - golly that was quick!). Fridge and freezer are both as full as can be, lots of stuff in cupboards and petrol tank full. I am very interested to see what item it is going to be I run out of that will force me into the shops before May. So far ran out of mushrooms ;)and noodles but neither absolutely necessities. So all going well I only need to pay my mobile bill and fill the petrol tank once more before end of the month. (Except this little thing that it is my birthday in the end of the month and I would love to have a chocolate cake - just small one, mind - and a bottle of wine. Pretty please?)

    Have a great day!

    Marru

My cages just arrived, they look fab :j . I can now move my GP girls into bigger cage and can welcome couple of rats into our family.

Hi peeps, I'd really like some help with this little problem - I've just hung my washing out on the line, but it looks like I just pulled it straight out of the basket and bypassed the washing machine entirely! I'm using soapnuts, don't seem to have problems with cleanliness but everything is diggered in hairs! (from the cats and I have long hair). Anyone know what I can do please? Thinking Marru, Nyk and SophiesMum must have lots of experience here...or anyone else...?? Could it be a filtery thingy in the machine?

Sounds like you're doing well Marru, and new additions to the family, WOO HOO! :j Happy days! :j I reckon the choccy cake and wine are allowed :D
