    Ok, I'm glad I had a go :)

My £50 has tracked in quidco, my £25 has been returned in betfair, and
I have bets on 7 horses (I know nothing of the horese, I just picked names I liked etc) that have overall odds of about 40% I think of making a return.

So free £50 and the chance of winning anything from £0 to about £2000 on the race today with none of my own money at stake, this is brilliant :D

I'll feel a little less guilty going out tonight instead of being a hermit and adding to my deposit savings :D If I spend £50 tonight, then it balances with free money I wouldn't have had previously anyway :T

With regards to the challenge, how will all this work? For today I'll be deucting money from my available figure to the value of my shopping and the nightout, since this money is actually being spent it needs to be recorded, easy. How about the quidco £50 and the potential winnings? This is money I wouldn't have had before this site, do I list them as 'negative spend' when they eventually transfer to my bank account, or do they have no effect on this challenge? Or will they be listed seperately for the 'inflation beater'? I'm a bit confused :o

Bails just been reading the sad tale of the poor frugal mouse. I'm sure you did everything possible to make his last few hours more comfortable.

Whitewing hang on in there, you must have the patience of a saint at times.

    Hi Mr TD,

I have a separate column in my spreadsheet for moneys I have had to deposit into bingo accounts before being able to make a withdrawal. I always aim this to come to zero when all the money has returned to me. It is not in the £4k challenge. That is how I am going to treat this £25.- bet as well. People will treat winnings differently. I decided to use all my winnigs towards all the costs of my animals and have taken that cost off from the challenge as it is funded by winnings. But this is the only "cheating" I do, everything else except rent, c tax, water and in my case nursery are counted.

    It is CHRISTMAS!!!!!!! :santa2:

This week has been better than Christmas for me. I got a cheque from RBS for old CC penalty charges, a cheque from HMRC for 06-07 self employment national insurance payments and a cheque from one of the bingo sites.

Today postman was really generous as I got first issue or magazine for writers (Mslexia - Janey take note), dog book that I ordered from Amazon (it is essential professional reading material - that is my excuse and I'll stick to it), invitation from the college to go for an interview AND a letter saying that I have won a prize worth £3,750.- from one of the online comps I have participated!!! How good is that?

And before you think that I have got it too well I can confess that this morning I didn't manage to get up same time as DD and while I was dozing off she managed to feed the dogs 3 raw eggs and big bag of raw mushrooms (I was looking forward eating those mushrooms) and broke a plate (I have only one plate left that size). So I need urgently to find a child lock to my fridge and freezer and put a plea on freecycle for more plates. (You should see my 14 year old lab. Her neck is covered with raw egg - bless her. So there is operation dog wash due today as well.)

Better go and take my lot for a walk and then later as weather is so good let my piggies have some fresh grass in their run outside while I clean their cages.

So much to tell - so little time. Need to go!!! Have a great day everybody.

    Marru

I haven't spent anything for ages now. In fact, I said to my BF on thursday....our day off....that I felt the urge to spend! He laughed, and thought it a strange statement to make, but I thought I needed at treat. :D We went to a huge garden centre that sold everything, and I mean everything. Guess what..? I couldn't bring myself to part with a penny. I think I have lost the knowledge how to spend anymore. Am I ill?!:o Is there something wrong with me?

We decided to go for lunch instead, and had a lovely afternoon., just sitting and chatting, and making plans for our future. Bf paid as usual and even gave me some dosh for my petrol. I'd rather spend time and moments with someone, than spend cash!;) :D

I was thinking of going to Boots today to buy some hair dye but I'm going to leave it 'til Monday as I have to go to the bank and deposit a cheque for....£632.32 that I have been waiting for from the council for 6mths:eek:
Also yesturday I had over £600 go into my bank from work for backpay:j
So I feel great! My collegues are all yakking about how they are going to go on a shopping spree, and buy this and buy that. Me...I think I'll just stooze it and watch it grow and help me attain my goals;) :rotfl:

the code was already there if you went through quidco so no worries.

Oh Marru, you've just made my day- I had a complete strop last night as I though I'd messed it up by trying to help OH get his sorted and not concentrating on what I was doing! Fingers crossed it all works out; I am indeed hopeless at gambling! :D I've bet on the favourite Cloudy Lane and Baily Breeze, of course!

Off to see if I can place some more free bets, will catch up soon. Acutally, scrap that - I'll use them for matched betting later on.

    :T I paid off a credit card today :T

I have to phone back in the week because they are giving me a few pounds interest for the month just gone, and then I can close the account and it will all be done :D I also put my overdraft and other credit card back into the limits, so they will stop stealing my money  I know this is quite off topic for the 4k thread, but I'd like to thank you all for helping me get to this point :o This challenge has made a big difference to the way I view money. Just one credit card and my overdraft to go, and then I can start saving :D

Oh wow, there's some really great news on here today! I'm getting my little warm glow from all the positivity, that's far better than spending money any day! :T Well done peeps! :T

I've decided after all my stressing last night to use my holiday next week to sit down and prioritise my cash saving/making. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed trying to do so much, so I'm going to work out which will give me the best returns and then concentrate on them. And probably spend a little less time chatting on MSE and more time actually MSing! :D
