    Hi there, Smartt21 :)

Before we go about initiating you into the challenge, you have only mentioned your grocery spend of £20 per week, so I am wondering if you have mistaken us for the grocery challenge, which many of us are also taking part in? It's exclusively for groceries, which we count as food, drinks, toiletries, laundry & cleaning products etc. The link for this month's grocery challenge is here and there should soon be a new one for July. You can join as many challenges as you like, so if you want to try living on £2000 (+ child benefit if your DS's qualify) then let me know. The £2000 would represent 1st July to 31st December and would include everything except rent/mortgage, council tax and water. And you don't need to be in debt to join, several of us have no debt, we do this challenge to prevent debt and to do some moneysaving. Welcome on board and feel free to join us here and in the grocery challenge (and any others :D ).

Thanks for the welcome and the advice. Am currently working out my income and expenditure budget to start next month. Once the Council finally work out my Housing Benefit (only taken since 1st April so far) I will know how much I have to set aside for rent. I will let you know the figure but it will be considerably lower than £2000. I will also have a look at the Grocery challenge, thanks for that. I am still trying to navigate the forums so need all the advice available. Thanks again.

My friend celebrated her silver wedding and 50th birthday with a cruise. She thought she had picked up a dodgy tummy bug but tests revealed her first baby will be born in 22 weeks. All is well and she can't wait.
