Does she text more than talk? If so, you can get some PAYG phones where you get free texts for topping up...I've got my eye on the 'top up £25 per month, get unlimited texts' one from O2 - at least then you get the benefits of contract, and you KNOW there will be no nasty surprises0 -

I had a contract phone at 16 - and no I did not run up huge bills
It was for mum to keep tabs on me when I was at home and she was away. She would get worried if I went out and she couldn't get me (understandably - sp probably!)
ETA - I paid half the bill - that was the deal.
I guess if you are topping often then it may be cheaper to go for contract - with perhaps an agreement that if she goes over inclusive mins she foots the bill?
I took out a contract with vodafone in jan through quidco and it validated and paid perfectly.0 -
Please may I be excused duties today? DS2 gave me the lurgy and I can't stand up without getting v dizzy. Boys are 'looking after me' - will be glad to do to work and be ill in peace tomorrow. I have made myself do DW, and WMx3 before we sink in mess. Such a waste of a lovely sunny day.
skintscotslass - we got DSS1 a contract phone for his 16th birthday - £90 cashback from quidco made it cheaper than his current PAYG spendrate. Was going well until his second months bill came in at £57 over his contract amount. Can't switch the contract off, and can't cap the DD. If he goes over next month then we will take it off him full stop and buy him the cheapest nastiest PAYG I can find.
Pigpen - saw your house pictures on the de-clutter thread (I am on the sofa with my laptop) and wanted to say how lovely the original features are. Ours had everything original ripped out and modernised so lots of money and time going into putting things back. Thats it summed up nicely CB. I would go through quidco as well. I bought my mum a new payg for her birthday and it tracked and paid outThats a good idea. I'm getting BF's new mob when he renews his contract and DD was to get mine. Its only 6/8 months old, but its got water damage, so I think I'd rather give her a new one. She's backwards and forwards to her Dads by bus (I sold my car). Its a 5,6 mile journey but he wont pick her up since I sold the car, as we cant share the journeys. Erse! Guess who had to give her bus fares today???

She talks as well. She is her mother's daughter :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
Both my teenagers have contract phones.. 1 is on orange and has 'unlimited' texts (3000 a month) and 500 minutes of call time.. anything over the £35 a month he pays. The other is £25 a month and has 250 minutes and 500 texts on O2. Mine is O2 as well and has 2500 texts and 500 mins calls.
DS1 ran me up a huge bill.. once... it was £300ish.. needless to say he has never done it again such was the lesson he was taught!! DD1's biggest bill was £53.. and she won't be doing that again!!
My biggest bill was £120.. when I was in hospital with one of the littlies.. you have to do something when you are bored!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Thanks SSL, its my hubby gran's funeral. I never met her as she's been really ill in hospital for ages, hubby didnt get on with her at all. We're only going to the funeral to support DH's dad. Saw him on friday and he was ok, but apparently he was really close to her:(The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0

Not sure what you do with old mobiles but I have used http://www.mazumamobile.com/ to "recycle" old phones - they take damaged phones but the payout is less. You can go through quidco for that too0

Just trying to sort some stuff to ebay so make some of the money to pump into the middle room renovation!!! We spent about £6000 sorting the frint room and I am trying to keep costs down in the middle room but everything is adding up far too quickly!!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0
