Yep...weezl...I do indeed have nasturtium (as in - just the one). Its growing away nicely and I'm looking at it thinking - "hmmm....noticeable amount of leaves now I can use for salad ...and a few flowers...ditto...use for salad".
I've had a nasturtium back before - and used the flowers back then for salad...they dont particularly taste of anything much really...but its all goodness and they certainly make salads more colourful. I didnt know at that time that the leaves are also edible - have now read that they are and that they taste a bit "peppery" - so will be having a go.
Miss us weezl? No chance there - we'll soon find any new thread you start!!!! Heh! Heh! You know me by now - you name it...and I can probably find it...just call me the "human bloodhound"! LOL. Do ya' think I missed my vocation? - perhaps I shoulda been a private detective...
(EDIT: might as well convince the neighbours I'm completely mad - they have been harbouring suspicions for long enough (LOL). Been out in my yard chomping an exploratory nasturtium leaf. Yep - peppery - thats the correct word. They are a bit peppery. Well...mixed up with a bit of more conventional type salad greens and a bit of French dressing or yogurt dressing..its a thought.)0 -
Evening weezl pepys! Just cooked a nice supper for my friend (the one you met with me in the garden centre Weezl) and I think was a useful shoulder as well as good cook! She loved the foolproof merangues and I intend to give her a cooking lesson to proove to herself she can do it! Plus show her she can make cibattas just as yummy as Sains do it! Great for a bit of anger management plumelling bread me thinks!
Re Sat Weezl if you want to brush up then do but I'll be in me linen! Dont want Mr Weezl too gorgeous as its been a while and youve not seen me after a couple of cocktails!! (only kidding, panic not Acetate Monkey...I only tell people I love em & then fall asleep in a corner before any real damage is done!
!!!)..Come as you would like & are comfortable! All go here! Special ingredients bought or ordered, glasses cleaned, wine in and I am also excited!! Pig probably haveg a happy last supper (cos he be a happy piggy!)Want to pace myself & give time for snooze pm though or I'll be a grumpy cow by 9pm!
Been to the allotment today and beans looking very sad and munched...despite the pelletts...anyone got any surefast slug killer recipes? A couple still have hope and greenhouse stuff doing well (toms have grown, sweetcorn happy and flowers not dead but beans seems elusive...!) Next job is planting them out...Pots are happy & growing (phew!!)...Woman in work gave me 2 cabbage plants!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0 -
The attempt at orreciete wasn't quite the success I hoped shape-wise (either my technique, or the egglessness of the pasta!????) but was very lovely with pesto.
Might be the egglessness.... wouldn't have been quite as elastic I'd guess? Might try it eggless myself, continuing my "what can I leave out" theme at home.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -

You will need:
Cocktail sticks
Baking sheet
Raisins
Melted Chocolate
The object of the game is to make 'rabbit poops'...obviously these will become reindeer closer to the relevant times of the year:D
I was trying to work out how I could make my own choccie covered raisins without them all mounding up, & figured you could spear a raisin with a cocktail stick & dip it in the chocolate that way!
Well......that's the theory:p

Ceridwen, We tried the leaves too, we thought a bit like a cross betwixt rocket and watercress?! Our neighbours already think we're bonkers, so no change there!:D
Softstuff, do post how you get on with eggless orrechiette, I'm keen to know if it's that or I'm a pasta clutz!! I thought it tasted nice egg-free, and it's quite a lot cheaper than with egg!;)

Tonight's dinner is chilli, tomorrow pasta pesto, friday saag aloo and rice and naan, then party on saturday, meat loaf with sprouts, gravy and mash on sunday, and then buffet for me on monday and sausages, roast potatoes and mushy peas for Mr Weezl (home alone). Frozen yoghurt, knotweed rice pudding, elderflower sorbet, iced buns, shortbread etc... For puds. Yippee!!!!:T

Weezl will weigh tghings next time i make one (new breadmaker arriving imminently so probably later) i knew when i typed it in you would want to know weights.....:D
The cinammon raisin bread was ace just had some for breccie in fact it tasted a bit like my malt loaf recipe but without all the faff
Hope the new machine doesnt take so long to master as the old one
I have been experimenting with recipes for b/m all gone down well not that thats a compliment here.........they will eat anything
ISOM - have you got strawbs on your lottie ?? mine are sending out runners i know what to do with them to get new plants but does this stop strawb production ie should i cut some off and grow some on ...........tidying that up is my job for today (shoulder allowing) the runners are growing through the bird netting
my runner beans got nibbled to start with but once established they seem ok
Got my first veg box delivery today hope it really is large as i want it to be a regular thing ....i did use one before but their idea of family sized and mine were different

1 sachet dried yeast, 1 teaspoon sugar with 250ml warm water, cover with a tea towel, wait 15 mins for bubbles. Add this to 500g plain flour with a pinch of salt, then add in a couple of teaspoons of olive oil (until you can mix it to a smooth dough) and knead... a fair bit... until it looks sort of stringy and elastic if you pull a bit off. Cover it with a damp teatowel and leave in a warm place for an hour. Give it a good punch, knead a little and get it into a loaf shape, pop it on a baking tray, cover again with a damp teatowel and wait for another hour.... then bake it. Depends on your oven how long, in mine at 180, about 15 mins. When it's done it'll sound hollow if you knock it.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
