Evening all! I have shared the recipe BTW but did it privately as dont want to spoil an element of surprise for the honoured guests! PM if people would like recipe!
Before I forgot Weezl its casual dress!! Very pleased you are excited! I managed to get one of the more "unusual" ingredients today from a shop near you!!
Re pasta machine - do get it & I can then borrow it! Would it be worth looking on ebay first although postage would prob be high! Not sure if you have to use oo flour? Can people advise as I think its more expensive as more refined?
Very chuffed to report that the strawberry jam has been snapped up & sold the lot! In addition I have sold my first loaf of bread for £2!! (the quick brown loaf I posted a while ago!) Weezl can you price it for me so I can suss out the profit!! I was telling people (in a meeting!!) about the cost of bagels & they were amazed!! Possibly also at the fact that someone could price it up, although they still think that its OK to pay the difference for not making it themselves but I disagreed!! Left them to ponder the ridiculous prices they are paying compared to my ooo so cheap & enjoyable pastime!! See Weezl...you have had an impact!
Ps the truth about food prices - C4 @ 8pm....thought it may interest pepys! Weel there is a good prog on BBC1 at 7.30 "City dwellers learn to love Welsh wildlife under the expert guidence of (very sexy) Iolo WIlliams" but only for us the right side of that there bridge!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! And at this point I feel I should interject with a quick chorus...now all together now "Should auld acquaintance be forgot....".
(everyone promptly thinks..."ceridwen's having some wine with dinner again"....errr...who...me?) Well...my excuse is "Darn...its Monday..back to w**k day" and then theres "Thank God Its Friday" day........;)

The above is for those who may have been nervous about neat mayo, although not sure about an additional egg myself! Would be interested to know if anyone tries it!!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0 -
Have any of you got any experience of making pasta from scratch? Now that even value pasta has doubled in price, at tesco, I'm seriously thinking of getting a gadget for rolling out my own sheets. Argos have their pasta machine at half price, £7.49 at the mo, so I wondered if it might be a good investment!?

Before you spend money on a gadget that you're not sure about, why not try making a pasta that doesn't need a machine, like orecchiette?

Lots of instructions online for this. Would go well with a nettle sauce.
Lasagne and tagliatelle are both possible without a pasta roller, if a little more difficult, a rolling pin and some patience would do.
I've always got to look for the alternative method of cooking something, just haven't got the kitchen space (other people who've posted their small kitchens in this forum look like they have about twice the space of mine! It's a 3m long wall in total, including the fridge, freezer, cooker, sink, cupboards!
Got rid of the breadmaker when I found it better by hand.... sure as heck won't be getting a pasta machine.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Been inspired to try soya mince instead of quorn mince - hmmmm.....well I tried some yesterday with a lot of stuff added in for flavouring (ie a pepper, canned tomatoes, garlic, onions, pesto). Hmmm......still inclined to favour the quorn mince I am....but thinking I might bring myself to use up the pack.
Its ever so cheap Weezl - if people were to buy that Tesco dried version.
Perhaps a couple of recipes on ways to use soya mince (and have a bit of "taste" in the result) could be a thought purlease possibly/maybe/concievably?:D0 -
