In Search Of Me - Please can you share your pork belly in plum sauce recipe for Mr & Mrs W's meal, I've been trying to search for one all day, having got some cheap in Mr M's.
Many thanks.0 -
Just updated sig, now a scary 19p! As I've bought the mayo for the potato salad at the bring and share. I'm gonna do 1.5kg potatoes, mayo, and 3 types of fresh herb from the garden, and a bit of cheeky garlic. Gonna use BigMumma's homemade coolbag idea
:T.
Shaz, almost all of the soup recipes in our index involve peas, so there might be some inspiration there.
BTW, I have shoppers envy too, I paid a penny more than you for the marrowfats in Asda!:D

Who told you that Shaz?? That is utter rubbish.
Most charity shops (all I know of and I've worked in a few) sell "their" donations, they might share some with other of their shops in the same area e.g. southwest if one is getting loads and another is short on stock but not as a general rule. So you do getter better stuff in richer areas and a load of tat in poorer areas unfortunately, but the prices often reflect this aswell so a "find" in a poorer area is usually an utter steal. Monsoon linen trousers at £2 anyone?0 -
Evening all
Well then i will be sat "partying" at the PC on the 28th _party_
Well I have had to be in and out of the garden all day, securing things to fences and tying in the tomato branches etc as we have had a right storm..its still thundering n lightening ....but i love that bit :T
Whilst i was out there i have come across my first 2 little melons on one of my plants -only tiny..but melons non the less:j the beginings of some golden courgettes (thought for a moment there i was going to be the only person that couldn't grow courgettes :rotfl: ).. the asparagus peas are flowering :T , the broad beans are nearly ready (good job too as i want those 2 troughs for something else soonand everything else seems to have go into overdrive with all this rain
....so fingers crossed soon i will be able to cut the spends down even further;) ....
Even just the salad leaves are saving us a fortune... and we get a much better selection too...
Have decided to cut back as far as i can for July...so willl be popping on and off here like a loony -don't want to risk missing anything do I !!!! We still have quite a lot in so hoping it won't be to hard -fingers crossed

Weezl asda have 250g boxes of Leo dried peas(with steeping tablets) today for 4p a box, 16p a kilo , bargain.:D0 -
Looking at my friends children, it seems to range from children who eat from an early age almost exactly what their parents do, olives, capers and Serrano ham included! And others who eat traditional ‘kiddie dinners’ like alphabetti spaghetti and would [strike]throw a tantrum[/strike] not like anything else, so I imagine it’s to do with how adventurous the child can be persuaded to be.:D
My eldest DD (11) has always loved olives and those disgusting stinky cheeses (blue ones included)!0 -

That looks wonderful:T Hope you all have a great time and we will want piccies.xBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -
But you are allowed to wear masks for the piccies if you want:D - if you're as privacy-conscious (okay - some would use other words!) as I am;) - errr....but make them funny ones (now I wonder if there's any old Ronald Reagan/Margaret Thatcher ones lurking around anywheres near chez ceridwen from my "political" days of yore:D )
- or, whoops, could be we are just thinking piccies of the food?0 -
morning all! feel slightly elated as the end of challenge looms. Not that I'm going to give up my thrifty ways you understand!
Great tip on the peas sophiesmum, I can get a fair few of them with my remaining pennies!
Mrs Mcawber, now I know I'm resembling our dear ceridwen here, but I'd love it if you did a blog/thread about your grow your own adventures (with guest editorial from your mum!) I really think a lot of people are put off by small gardens/not having a clue about plants, feeling that they have to have all the right 'gear'.
What I find really refreshing about your approach is the ease and spontinaety of 'I just chucked a few whoopsied sweet potatoes in a tub with compost, et voila! 200 sweet potatoes!;)' It makes it seem loads more accessible, IYSWIM? We could post our questions to you on it... Just a thought!
ISOM. Sometimes I just find myself scrolling back up to that menu, and getting so very excited!!!:T:A
Hi justamum, well done on the broad tastes of your DD, she won't be needing a sticker chart then eh?;)
Have a happy monday all,
Love Weezl x
