    Hi everyone

Weezl a week to go you bust be dead chuffed the finish line is in sight and you know your gonna get there :D :T

Made your pate yesterday and doubled up on the recipe i also added a bit more water than the last time i made it (it was too hard to spread but i used asda livers and they dont have any juice in)and added a good......big.........splash of cheap brandy my mum gave me for cooking the result is sublime..gut into 10 big chunks and frozen it i think it will be pate for starters at christmas dinner here

also went shopping to local chinese and indian grocers today and bought

    20kg rice - £17:money:
    200g crushed dried chillies - 89p
    400g linseeds - 79p
3kg each of green lentils, yellow split peas and chick peas all £2 each
    100g dried mushrooms £1.50
    500g soy sauce 99p
    650g egg noodles £1.10

I am very pleased with my little hoard i have also added lots of stockpile stuff to my monthly mr T's order I was talking to the lady who runs the chinese grocers she says all her wholesale prices have almost doubled (and she is absorbing some of the cost)but the shop is busier due to [STRIKE]IDIOTS [/STRIKE]people like me panic buying;) so she is just breaking even

By the way mr t's marrowfat dried peas are 37p per kilo anyone got a pea soup recipe ??

Also collected an old battery from freecycle the plan is to use it for solar project i have in mind but hubby wants it for our caravan as its better than the one we have in it at the moment:rotfl:

Did lots of gardening stuff too trying to plan the winter veg production
got celeriac sprouts swede turnip leeks planned and hoping to do some indoor potatoes in buckets any more ideas

Today have nothing planned but have made a butternut squash soup and a minestrone and the breadmaker is going

Was going to bake but people keep appearing in kitchen so doing it tomorrow

    Have a great day

I can only contemplate with envy the prices other people pay at Chinese and Indian shops. No Chinese shop anywhere near and we do have an Indian one (but they are rather aware of not having any competition I guess - and being in a dear area) - so they dont charge "Indian shop prices" - more standard-type prices.

One of the few times when I go for the mantra "competition is good".;) :D

Aaaahh ceridwen i am sorry i made you jealous i sometimes get envious too :p on the up side some things are cheaper at the supermarkets..red lintils for example £4.99 for 2kg

Our charity shops are full of tat and sometimes read about others finds with eny:eek:

I would love to join a wholesale buying group but think i would have to run it so haven't done it yet same withLETS groups ...there isn't one but a lady from the council will "support "me if i want to start one...yeah right

    Hi Shaz

At this rate - we'll be swopping houses for a weekend. I get to your Indian/Chinese shops and you get to our choice of charity shops;) :D . We do have quite a selection of charity shops here with some pretty decent stuff in - and loads more not forever away (not such a choice as my direct area). One of the few advantages of a dearer area - the "pickings" are pretty good in the charity shops! (no bargains I'm afraid - the dearer area syndrome - but some good choice). In this area its a case of - I get loads of compliments on a brand-new expensive type mohair cardigan I bought from a charity shop for £4 (but considering it would probably be £80-£100 touch in a "proper" shop that aint bad going!)
