hi everyone
haven't been on much this week, lost the plot with the budget because of my week away, but have managed this week with only an ASDA spend of £9 on mainly fruit and veg. Made chicken fried rice last night and there is a lasagne out the freezer (grossly bulked) for tonight, but am thinking it won't be defrosted in time so it might be kedgeree. Made twink's 'hobinobs' and fruit scones this am in anticipation of visitors as DS was supposed to be going into hosp tomorrow, but he woke up this am with what looks like 'slapped cheek' virus:eek:, so hospital cancelled for the second time:mad:. Guess we will have to eat the goodies ourselves:j have just read thru weazl's budget thread - giving me a much needed injection of inspiration:T Anyway going out a walk with dog, DS and DD, trying not to use car as much due to the shocking petrol increases:eek::eek::eek: must hang washing out first. Have a nice afternoon everyone.
X:hello:there's me, OH, DS 10, DD 7,
and our deranged border collie - sadly put to sleep Aug 23rd 09now have our GSD x collie oct 10

Just popped in to update my sig - not going very well as I still have 2 weeks to hubbys pay day:mad: !!!! I think that I may have to see if I can increase our budget in some way as things are just going up & up. Anyway I shall keep trying for the rest of the month and try to spend as little as possible, hopefully I should just need to buy fresh stuff for the next 2 weeks.Debt Oct 2006 £42,215.21 at highest. Debt Today £0.000

Does anyone know where I can get Pom-bear crisps cheap? They are the only crisps that dd will eat. I only let her have a bag a week, (Mean I know, but she's only 2 1/2), so a multipack will last at least a month.
The BM is proving more expensive than buying bread. DH said that it's much nicer than shop brought, but is now eating twice as much bread. I'm hoping things will die down once hm bread stops being a novelty.
Hopefully as he likes the bread so much, it might persuade him to take sandwiches to work rather than spend £1.50 a day in the canteen!!!  I know it's his money, but it really sticks in my throat, especially now my maternity pay has dropped to practically nothing. :mad:Thanks to all the lovely people on here I have managed to cut my hours down to 2 days a week, allowing me to spend more time with my gorgeous Children. :j0 -
At this rate, we are going to need a special word from Martin about what to do once we have downshifted to the cheapest brands and get to the point that these are still too expensive! Space food looking better by the day- one cube of dehydrated mince & tatties followed by a cube of dehydrated strawberries, but only on a weekend. :rotfl:

Updated my sig for my spending over the last couple of days.Only shampoo from the Pound Shop (Dove for £1 is great) and some apples that I had to buy yesterday. At last I have done my meal plan for the rest of the month. Need to buy a joint for roasting, some cereal, lots of milk and some fruit and veg so fingers crossed we are doing OK this month.
Working on my gardening skills. My lettuces are coming through in the grow bag, I'm still keeping the tomoto plant warm in the house, and fighting to keep the rabbits away from my postage stamp size veg patch!!0 -
_pale_ Been a tad lax this week, but also in a :money: kinda way.
Twenty quid in our discount place:- £3 technically belongs to one of the offspring cuz it's their turn to supply biccies for work; 3 bags of sugar @ 59p ea; pk 12 Double Velvet Triple @ £3:75...oh & 3 ma-hoosiff Aero easter eggs @ 99p ea
£11 in Morri's:- ox heart for Pup:j ; half decent luncheon meat that is better than others around here & we have with mash for a dinner too; 160 Ty-phoo t-bags SIZE=1]+cuddly toy[/SIZEon BOGOF @ £2:59.
I bought another two wind up torches in Dyas ready for crimbo prezzies for £7 on Tues & got a coupon for £5 off a £10+ spend on Weds. So I went back for 2 boxes the Brita original water filters that are currently on offer @ £7:99 for a pk of three that I was dithering over the day before:T
So altho I've spent another £67:51, alot of that is for the coming months.
Re: HM Bread.....yes, the novelty does wear off & you learn how to slice it thinner fairly quickly:p And I've noticed that my wooden bread bin from Wilko's also softens the crust, even tho we've yet to have any bread left longer than 18hrs:rotfl:Full time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

BigMumma - where are you buying your sugar at 59p/bag?
Ours is 80p, locally, so I may bulk buy if I can get it 21p per bag cheaperIf I am planning on making jam this year then the cheaper the better, as far as I'm concerned.
I reserve the right not to spend.

Can I go on strike and refuse to buy food for the rest of the month? I've plenty in stock and yet I can still hear the war cry, 'what's for eating?' Or worse still, 'There's nothing for eating'!!
Can someone please explain to me the differences in perspective between a male and a female looking into a food cupboard? Is it just me, or does anyone else think that some people (usually teenage males) only see 'food' if it is all prepared and ready to eat NOW, hence the preference for anything that fits on a sandwich and a constant demand for bread & rolls?
I'm about to explore the staple diets of other cultures, especially those associated with third world countries. A month on rations could soon bring some to their senses.
I tell my teenage son there is plenty of food in the cupboard and he always replies 'I need proper food' there is no real food in theh ouse which translates into teenage language, fast quick grab it and run food like biscuits, chocolates, crisps, ram in the mouth and off I go food, the having to butter a piece of bread or put it into the toaster or preparing in any way is a def no no to him and boy does he moan about the lack of 'real food':rotfl: :rotfl:0
