Can I go on strike and refuse to buy food for the rest of the month? I've plenty in stock and yet I can still hear the war cry, 'what's for eating?' Or worse still, 'There's nothing for eating'!!
Can someone please explain to me the differences in perspective between a male and a female looking into a food cupboard? Is it just me, or does anyone else think that some people (usually teenage males) only see 'food' if it is all prepared and ready to eat NOW, hence the preference for anything that fits on a sandwich and a constant demand for bread & rolls?
I'm about to explore the staple diets of other cultures, especially those associated with third world countries. A month on rations could soon bring some to their senses.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Could you teach them to bake their own?
My mum never really had biscuits in the house but we fairly rapidly learnt to bake fairy cakes, oaty biscuits etc when she was out at work if we got home from school before her....hence my standing obsession with food!
As someone else said here recently, OSers always seem to have ingredients in the cupboard, but no "food" by teenage standards!:D

G,day all, had to buy tea bags this morning, from the corner shop too 99p gone. I,m going to rethink how I do my challenge as I get paid 4 weekly, I,m making this too hard for myself and in danger of throwing in the towel. Dont know whats wrong with me, I used to be good at being poor. That,s what a good few years of comfort does to you. I expect more now (or is it just want), still not such a bad life, just getting soft and whiny in my old age.:T:jDabbler in all things moneysaving.Master of none:o
Well except mastered my mortgage 5 yrs early :T:j

My teenage daughter is the same! I did a small shop last night, just getting some veg, herbs and spices. She's not happy cos I didnt buy any white bread. There's brown bread but she doesnt like that, grrrr. So she'll eat cream crackers instead :mad:0 -
MrDT, I crave a freezer like that. One day... one day...

Just watching This Morning. They have just featured the most gorgeous Jamician Ginger Bread. Think I might make it this afternoon.
I spent £8.09 in Lidls last night and £1.20 in the Asian grocers. I got a huge bunch of parsley, a couple of large green chillis and a big piece of ginger for my £1.20. I also returned a mop head to Tesco so my new total is £73.91. Not bad I think. I've got loads of food in the fridge and freezer, so I need to do a meal plan for the rest of the month.0 -

Well this week was alittle better than last weeks with only a £66 which means we are learning. This also included a £9 payg mobile, as I needed a new charger which was £6 and partner needed new sim, so worked out cheaper to buy the £9 phone and hold it as a spare in case we lose another one.
Managed to make jaimie olivers meatballs from the advert and made enough for tea and next days lunch.
Will update signature now with this weekends spend.MAY NSD's

Yes, teenage males want everthing ready....which is why mine opens and eats a whole large tin of pineapple, even too lazy to put it in a bowl!!! And when you ask them what they've had to eat, it's a sandwich, whereas I know he's only eaten the filling for a least 5 sandwiches.....5 slices of cheese and 5 slices of ham. I wouldn't mind but not only is it greedy and lazy, it's also selfish....there's no pineapple for me and the OH now  and there's always loads of beans and packets of noodles in the cupboard
I've also noticed how when the things they like have run out, they seem to "like" the things they "don't like"!!!!0
