mrdt fab friend to have:D
STill fighting with comet to get the money back from the freezer that packed up after 10 weeks so NSD for me today through their fault as have none until I get theirs back:rolleyes: the good news is that someone has offered me a freezer which OH is picking up tomorrow so panic over, went to Tesco last night and they had loads of reduced stuff but no freezer, no buying, :rolleyes:0 -
Have just remembered that I didn't update my signature to include the £4.40 I had to spend at the chippy when I fell asleep and burnt our dinner.
Hate it when I waste money like that. I keep thinking of all that I could have bought with that money. Nevermind, doesn't often happen that I'm caught on the hop with nothing quick to fill the gap.
Well done to all those doing so well. :T Can hardly wait for May to begin so I can have a fresh lot of challenge money.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

Went slightly over this month because I stockpiled some flour but hopefully the savings will run into next month.
OH wants to make HM tortillas sometime soon, not quite sure when we'll have the time-perhaps tomorrow evening, then we can have something nice for tea tomorrow. And then I can shove a couple of quesadillas in the freezer for my lunches next week, hehe. I'm trying to get more and more inspiration from the Lunch in a Box website, I love all of her ideas and am very tempted to buy myself a Bento box as a treat! I use a Lock n Lock at the moment you see. Does anyone know where you can get mini ice packs from? Like the small gel ones? My office only has one of those tiny mini fridges so I can't put my whole lunch box in there-the space is usually taken up by our milk!

Ok been reading this, but not posted yet, so here goes. (be kind to me :rotfl: )
I am on month one, guessing the amount and saving the reciepts to count up at the end of the Month of April.
My guess for the month is about £180, that is 2 adults, 2 cats. That is food, washing powder, cleaning stuff, toilet rolls, cat litter etc etc.
Plus 37 pond fish, but those don't count as they have loads of food that I bought in an aquatic sale at the end of last year and have stored in clean dry conditions
So it is going to be interesting to see what the actual total is from the reicepts at the end of the month.
Then for May I can start seeing what and where I can cut things.Breast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

Yeah, he's been a good friend for about 20 odd years though, pure luck that he works where he does
Sounds like a nightmare with your freezer  Hope you get it all sorted. I really want to defrost mine, but i want to EMPTY it first
Bit of a losing battle emptying it though:
(please ignore the grubbiness, freezer is in a kind of outbuilding, no matter how much I clean it it just looks grubby...)
I swear it's never been that full before. I say I want to empty it to defrost and somehow manage to fill it to overflowing, typicalI live alone, so getting through that thing is gonna take a month or two...
Still, May's challenge should be a bit easier!? :T0 -
.....I've decided, on 30th April (payday) when we start the May challenge, I'm going to Asda's after work.
It will be a slog, yes, probably wont get in till gone 8pm, but I miss Asda. This month, I've bought as I've needed and avoided buying things but my fridge looks bear....I avoided buying various yoghurts that were on offer yesterday at Mr T's as there's still a few yoghurts left but MY FRIDGE LOOKS BEAR.
My freezer and cupboard are full, but the fridge and biscuit barrel are empty - all the treats are missing.
So I am going back to Asda for a big massive monthly shop (and hopefully I can still stick within my budget, but will no gaps in the fridge!)
If I go in the even as well, I can stock up on whoopsies
But come on everyone, if the biscuit barrel is empty (even if there is a teenager in the house), it's not right (and not funny)
Should we start a campaign to make Mr A deliver everywhere? They don't deliver to my work, home or mother's address (even though she is only 5 mins from a store)0 -
clair,
make twinks hobnobs, much nicer than any shop bought, but i warn you, you'll be making them daily as they just seem to vanish:rolleyes:

Hi peeps
Just wanted to have a moan, cannot believe how things have got so expensive in the last two weeks, tried to buy some eggs and even the basic or value lot are now all £1.50 for 15, that's a 31p increase in the last two weeks, but luckily Icelands still sell 15 large eggs for £1.25, but it's gone mad.
Anyway, thanx for listening to my moaning. NSD for me today, refusing to spend money at the moment lol, freezer pretty full still. Have started a calorie controlled diet, and it seems that I eat much less, so suppose everything will take longer to use up which means everything will last longer and will therefore be able to spend even less.
Cheers
Casper

Spent another £40 -odd in Tesco yesterday as my DH had forgotten to tell me we were having friends round to dinner at 6. Did as much as I could Oldstyle but ended up buying chicken breasts - Willow Farm - but can't believe how expensive they are. Made a lemon tart for dessert, went down well. Does anyone have any cheapy recipes for entertaining that don't involve chicken breasts, steaks, expensive cuts etc? And that your guests/husband don't realise it's a budget recipe?
At least it included 3 bottles of wine on offer I suppose...not necessary but well-priced!;)
