This is the recipe i use for my bread, have only tried the white one so far, but it is fab and lasts at least a couple of days(if it doesnt get eaten first;) ) Lately i've been using my BM to make the dough and cooking it in the oven. It gives a lovely consistency, would happily buy it from a bakers:D

Many thanks guns, will try this one out and report later.........

    Hello All

Unfortunately Asda delivered on time so no free delivery next time! Never mind, it came to a total of $64 including beer for hubbie.

Just made a savoury bread and butter pudding for tea, using left over bacon etc.

    best wishes
    Charlotte

    Don't be so sure ;)

If your order is over £50 you can usually get free delivery from asda. This site seems to be updated regularly with free delivery codes:

I have just put the dough in to make the brown one, am slightly confused as there is no fat in it, but will see what happens...

I posted last nights incredibly frugal and healthy batch cook recipes here, with costings:

lentils with sun-dried tomatoes and greek yoghurt and honey ice cream

but thought you guys over here at the grocery challenge might also like the recipe!

well done on all the thriftiness guys, we can do it!:T

Just waiting to go to work now. The son was over to collect washing and relieved my of the rest of my bacon and eggs. I did however make him work for it, had a small pile of bricks up the back of the garden, got him to fashion a small square that I can put my seed trays in to harden off. Made him douse it all with hot water and disinfectant and dispatch a few thousand snails at the same time. Wont buy any more bacon now till next challange,I must start eating the cornflakes and bran flakes I seem to have stockpiled before they end up in a fat ball for the birdies. Still holding at just under a tenner over-spend, but I dont think that will last long.

I have a few moc from sainsbury's for baby stuff. As I won't use them (Nearest Mr S is at least 45min drive), if anyone would like them, then pm me. Some have my name on, but I hope it will still work.

Hi everyone - made it back from Bonnie Scotland, really great to catch up with the family but back to the old routine now.:p

Just updated my Sig as we have been out and restocked on F&V, planned our meals until payday on the 27th and have everything in but will need more F&V. Also as it's a big birthday for me next week and DD1 will be 12, planning a Birthday Tea next Thursday which will be very OS, HM sausage rolls, quiche, HM cake, hobnobs and bakewell tarts etc so hoping to come in under target or near enough.

Popped into Lidl this morning and bought 12 bags of Bread Flour as they still have it at 48p and Asda have put theirs up to 75p:eek: Got it hidden away in a cupboard in case OH thinks I'm taking in orders for the neighbours.:rotfl:

Anyway must go and get the dinner sorted, HM burgers and loads of lovely salad - it's nice to go on Hols but I do like to come home and feel comfort in the fact that the fridge is full of fresh ingredients.:T Am I getting sad in my old age or what!!!!!!

Nearly another NSD for me but had to buy some ibuprofen for "poor" hubby , so spent £2.29. Also bought a new can opener for £7 but used spare vouchers from Christmas (all gone now) so I'm not including that. I told the girls at work about this site and a couple of them said they'll look at it, so we may have a new recruit or 2 (don't tell them I'm me!!!)

Just ordered a compost bin and 5ltr caddy from my local council for £10. As this isn't technically grocery it's not coming out of the rapidly decreasing budget :rotfl: .
