Sandy - I've just checked the itv website and he says that the recipe usually uses a 2 lb loaf tin, but he thinks it looks cool in a ring tinAnd I've just checked my stores. I am out of butter, soft dark brown sugar, golden syrup and ground ginger! So it will wait until tomorrow

i live in the north east, so i don't know if they have these shops all over the country
its quite a big shop, and it sells branded food/drink at much lower prices than supermarkets
for example, 4 chunky kitkats £1, heinz beans 30p a tin, 24 weetabix £1, they also sell kids clothes, gardening stuff, some electricals etc etc
its a brilliiant shop!! i always try and go there before i go to tesco or asda.0 -
I've just made 12 very yummy choc chip muffins. Not good for the waistline (about 300 cals each), but only £1.50 - £2 for all 12.
Choc Chip Muffins
250g plain flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
Half-teaspoon bicarbonate soda
2 tablespoons cocoa
175g caster sugar
150g chocolate chips (plus more for sprinkling later)
250ml milk
90ml vegetable oil
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
·Preheat the oven to 200C and fill a 12-bun muffin tray with paper cases.
·Weigh out the dry ingredients into a large bowl. Pour all the liquid ingredients into a measuring jug.
·Mix both together – it will be a runny batter - then spoon into waiting muffin cases.
·Sprinkle more chocolate chips on top then cook for 20 minutes or until the muffins are risen and springy.
·Makes 12
We didn't manage to let them cool before eating. But we do have 8 left for tomorrow.
