Can't remember seeing it before, but I'm having a few 'senior' moments lately;) , so would it be possible for a recipe for the Impossible Coconut Pie please Sashanut? I used to make Maidens Tarts & wondered if it was similar, so perhaps I'll go look for that one again too cuz you've got my taste-buds tingling now:mad: :rotfl: :rotfl: Please don't tell the Weight Loss threads I just said that:o :rotfl:
Will post recipe later - I haven't posted it before, planned to make it but then didn't have enough eggs, then got eggs + coconut - then lost the **** recipe:mad:
AFAIK it is the type of pud that you slosh all in together as a globby batter - then it makes 3 layers, a thin pastry-like crust, a creamy custard middle & a crunchy coconut-sponge topping.....allegedly - wish me luck!!!
BTW I have boiling a small unsmoked gammon joint I found in the freezer yesterday - plan to make sandwiches & other stuff with it - but can I make soup with the water & some split peas or something????New start JAN15 - NOT BUYING IT 2015 . Well done everyone!!!
Back on the wagon now....it has been a really tough couple of months but i feel as if i am finally ready to do this properly!!
I have decided to go for £300 per month for myself, dh, ds & dd...the puppies cost another £100 for food so i am not counting that!! Its all a bit different now because after being vegan for over eight years i have given it up....been battling with my conscience but had a philisophical shift and am now checking out anything that is cheap and will enable me to cut down my debts...0 -
Hi sashahut
Yep you can soon turn it into soup..i throw an onion a carrot and loads of split peas and lentils in and cook until soft.
Remove some of the liquid before you blitz it incase it goes to runny -you can always add it back in, it does tend to thicken as it coolsnice with a squidge of mint sauce in too
My mum used to make a pud like that -that sepreates into layers...but lemon..called self saucing i think and im sure i have a recipe for a similar one somewhere and one in choc that seperates into layers..will see if i can find them..-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
Thanks MrsM for that soup info - I won't throw the baby out with the bathwater.....having said that I just tasted a piece of the boiled ham & it doesn't really taste of anything much!! I know it is an unsmoked joint - perhaps I should have put something in the water whilst it was boiling to flavour it?? And it was from M&S too, so I thought it would be nice.....bought when I worked there so not v.expensive at the time. Ah well just better put plenty of pickle in the sandwiches eh?New start JAN15 - NOT BUYING IT 2015 . Still trying not to make my overspend any worse than it already is!
Just paid £340 odd for my car service so feeling sorry for myself!
I think I can scrape through until Monday without spending much more but I will have to get some apples for DD as she's back at school on Monday. Having said that I've just remembered that her teeth are wobbly so maybe I can get away with giving her raisins just for monday?
I'll ask her what she wants to do.
Still have the loaf I made on Wednesday so that will do us tomorrow and hopefully I've enough flour to last all of next week at least.
I'm cross that I wasn't able to meet the challenge but will keep it set at the same level for next month too. I was thinking that maybe my problem was variety and maybe if I can preprepare some pizzas and other quick meals like that then there won't be any no tea moments.
Actually I can't remeber last time I rang DH and said grab a pizza on the way home so I'm obviously doing something better. I think he's enjoying the home cooked ness of everything too.
Still not made any more cakes or things since the brownies but that's ok- no one has asked for any.
I have some cottage cheese in the fridge along with some pastry from the other day so will make another quiche to use up some more veggies.
After that I think I may have to actually cut and freeze the rest of the cabbage or it'll go off.
Still got 6 portions of that mince I cooked up the other week and the other tub is in the freezer untouched.
Mainly think I need to educate myself- I do not need to shop every week as I have stuff in. I have dried milk so can make it up for coffee and the kids are happy with that on their porridge or to have toast for breakfast.
Would rather they had more porridge for breakfasts though in view of the price of flour going up!

Well done MrsM:T
Well I'm over:o just been to town and bought 2 x bread flour (still 48p) in sainsburys, some whoopsied milk ( 4 pints blue organic milk 50p and 3 x 1 pint blue milk @20p each) so thats safely tucked in the freezer ready to defrost and dilute the pinters as I need them already split the 4 pinter and diluted the half thats not gone in the freezer and a couple of other bits so total spend £4.08 which takes me over.
However although I didnt need flour I thought Id get the last 2 bags on the shelf in case it goes up when they restock and the milk was to good not to. There was one 4 pinter left after Id taken mine but sadly as it wouldnt have fitted in the freezer I deceided to leave it
So I may be over and now on damage limitation but Im not to fussed as the bits I bought should help a bit next month
