  • I love this thread. Thanks to the recipes for bagels and falafel we've had a great tea tonight, that I wouldn't previously have thought about doing with some homemade coleslaw. I know it sounds a weird concoction, but we loved it, and I reckon the whole meal cost no more than £1 for 4 of us!! (excluding electricity). Thanks again for all the recipes. I've copied and pasted them from the thread and then written them up in my recipe book so I've got a nice collection going now..... And a request for further bagels tomorrow! :o

Not sure if you're aware of this, but if you shop in sainsburys tomorrow, they're giving away free fridge magnets and car stickers. I was planning on going on Sunday, but will probably go tomorrow now as I can't resist a useful freebie.
Thanks to all the lovely people on here I have managed to cut my hours down to 2 days a week, allowing me to spend more time with my gorgeous Children. :j

Coleslaw recipe? Falafel Recipe? I must have missed those

I have to say, I tried the lentil bolognase from this thread and I have to say I was amazed, thought it would be ok but it was delish!! Have managed to have a meal tonight with leftover rice and enough for lunch tomorrow with some leftover rice along with enough for 2 main meals to shove in the freezer. All from 1 tin of Red Lentils from MrT and some leftover veges.

    Amazing!!

Anyway, have gone over my budget this month - as usual. Am just off to update sig. I will be doing mealplans for the rest of the week and my month ends on weds so will be using this month to the Fri then starting on the May GC. May have to make it official this month tho  . Might need help from you guys

I ONLY include groceries and cleaning products - any beauty products I buy from the supermarket (Boots I don't include).

Meals out and spur of the moment take aways aren't included either (as DH pays for those). So, i SHOULD be able to manage £150 for the 2 of us! Gonna be a challenge.

    Evening everyone

Went to Makro and stocked up on liquid bold washing stuff. 2 x 5litre bottles which will last us about 6 months for £17.61 including VAT. :j

Also had to buy milk on the way home so will update signature in a minute.

Might take a trip to Morrisons tomorrow for a change as I'm bored of Tesco and our nearest Asda or Sainsbury is much too far away.

    Have a good weeked everyone.

Just bought a few bits today to make a lemon meringue pie. It's been made and is waiting to be eaten tomorrow when my Dad and step-mother visit. I just hope I don't sleep walk tonight :rotfl: .

Think we've blown the budget this month as we're getting a(nother) chinese takeaway. My diet is a far distant memory this month, and I did so well in March. 12 days to go and we've got at least one more big shop until May - then it's our 1st wedding anniversary :j (12/5)
