    Evening all :D

Well i did the freezer "re-jig" and list..and as i thought i have more than enough stuff to provide the main part of all our meals for MAY...and June:o .. So I have worked out a meal plan..well a list of 31 meals :j ..... have several "whoopsed" WW pizzas i got for hubbies occasional munchies (that heven't got used  ) but we are going to top them with salami, kassler ham more veggies and mozarella -all out of the freezer and use them up that way ;)
Also remembered I have a 650g salami untouched in the fridge..hubby has eyed that up for his beloved pasta bakes -and at a fraction over €3 for the massive thing im gonna be getting a lot of meals out of it :D
Have more than enough toiletries and cleaning stuff to last at least the next couple of months :j so should just be fruit, veg and yogurts.... fingers crossed -mind have to get to the end of this month first :rotfl:

Off for a walk round the golf course with hubby in the morning..so will pop into the NAFFI on the way back ....well if they have any whoopsed milk or any other too good to miss items..i may not be able to stop myself :p ....

right had better get off...have a good evening everyone :D

You should come and live with us, no-one likes the cherry ones so they're always left till last if we have a mixed pack!

    Hiya,

Which recipe for falafel was that galacticgreen? And would you mind saying how big a batch it makes, I only want to do it when I've space to store it if you see what I mean!

    Weezl x

Sorry I can;t remember who posted it originally to give them the credit they deserve, but the recipe is:
    1 tin chickpeas
    1 finely chopped onion
    2 cloves crushed garlic
    1 tsp cumin
    1 tsp ground coriander
    1 chopped red chilli
    1 tbsp chopped fresh coriander
    2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
    1/4 tsp baking powder
    Salt & Pepper

Put chickpeas, onion, garlic, cumin, coriander, chilli and herbs in processor until smooth. Stir in baking powder and seasoning. Chill in fridge for 30 mins. Break in to small balls, shape and flatten slightly. Spray baking tray with oil and bake on tray in oven at 220C for 12-15 mins. Serve with yoghurt with chopped mint and lemon.

I got 6 patty's and we had 2 each (adults), which have left 2 for another meal. Kids didn't have any of the falafel.

It was fantastic, so thanks to the original poster of this.:T

bagels and falafel recipe where is it please thank you:D

I've just posted the falafel recipe above, thanks again to to OP of this recipe. I'm pretty sure the bagel recipe is one of MrsM, so she might be able to cut and paste it to post again, otherwise I am happy to type it out later. I just made plain bagels this time as the kids prefer plain, but will definitely make some onion ones and poppy seed ones soon for me and OH.

My coleslaw was just some grated carrot, bit of grated onion, grated cabbage mixed with a bit of mayo and some pepper to season

Thanks again for all the fab recipes:T

    Hi there

    Here you go :-

    bagels -makes 8
    1. 1 cup warm water
    2. 1 tbs soft butter
    3. 1tsp sugar
    4. 3tsp salt
    5. 3 cups white bread flour
    6. 1 1/2 tsp yeast..... i used 20g of fresh
    7. 1tbs poppy seeds
    8. 2 tbsp fried onions (the crispy ones in tubs for salads)
    • tip the flour and salt into a large bowl and make a well in the centre
    • mix the fresh yeast, sugar and water and pour into the well add the butter (if using dried yeast -tip into flour but don't add the salt until you are kneading in the seeds n onions;) )
    • mix to form a soft dough
    • tip in the onions and poppy seeds
    • and knead to combine
    • leave to prove until double in size
    • cut into 8 pieces..mine were about 90g
    • roll into a sausage -about 9" - form into a ring and pinch the edges together (I formed mine around a barts spice bottle to get even-ish sizes;) )
    • place on a greased baking sheet -or on a silicone liner, cover loosely with oiled cling film or a split carrier bag and leave to prove for 20 mins
    • bring a pan of water to the boil, pop 2-3 bagles into the pan and cook for 1 min -turning half way through...they do swell slightly
    • lift out and gently shake to remove water
    • place on silicone liner /oiled baking sheet and when all done place in a preheated oven -200c/400f/gas 6 and bake for about 15-20 mins (you can glaze -before baking if you like with 1 egg yolk and 1tbs water mixed)
    • remove onto cooling rack and cool
Toasted they are stunning..so im super impressed. Now i know the shop ones are awful unless toasted -guess who had her 1st one straight out of the packet and wondered why they were so awful :rotfl: ..but these ones are nice enough un toasted :D

Okay have not been posting as I have a confesion...........

I have failed miserably at my challange going over budget by *coughs* £20 at least  and there are ten days of my challange left

BUT will be joining again next month so wish me luck. I am convinced better planning is the key. I wrote a months menu but struggled to stick to it . Hopefully though I have learned what will and won't work for me next month (big sigh). I think need to be more flexible with menus and my changing shift patterns

Oh don't be too disheartened! Just keep trying! Even cutting back a little bit helps-as long as you save something up by what you would have spent, you are NOT a loser!
    Chin up!
Its like falling off a horse, come on, up you get, and straight back on! Don't wait until next month or you will miss out on what you could have achieved for he nex 2 weeks.
