Oh I made the veggy pate using red kidney beans(tinned). Got my 18yr old son to try it-he doesnt like "real meat" anyhow so he was pleased it was veggy. He was very impressed, as was my 14 yr old girl who thought it looked weird, laughed that I "made" pate! then promptly declared it delicious having been instructed to try it!
When I told my son what it cost(all of 20p) he was very impressed and wants me to show him how I make the next lot. Went to co-op today as Ive had 4 nospend days so was a bit low on things-no real milk for 2 days.Spent about £36-I must update my spending diary. Forgot my lemons for the sorbet-how frustrating! Now I wonder if I could make it with lemonjuice instead? Skip the real lemons?
Got to be worth a try as I think Ive got a bottle of lemonjuice left over from pancake day.Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0 -
**stamps feet** took a child with me again didn't I. Doh! Oh well £41 in Aldi, did get quite a lot for that however. I have also booked a Tesco delivery to mainly stock up on flour, pasta, rice, tinned stuff etc etc which is due Monday night, I'll add that after it arrives. One day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
A little spend at the supermarket last night of £5.83. This being because I am dangerously near my limit this month. I have the princely sum of 54p left in my budget to last me till the end of this month.
I've got just about everything in but its bound to be milk or loo roll that lets me down in the last run up but we shall have to see.
Shall have another sort of my freezers as I've a fair bit of reduced stuff in and get menu planning.
Might add some of those HM bagels to my list that I'd forgot to try when the recipe originally went up.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

Just paid the milkman £9:44 & still need to get some taiters & eggs from the pet shop. I think that will be the last of the biggish spends till the 25th, with the exception of nanas but even then I might make 'em wait:D
I'm going to start buying my spuds as I need them for a while--more expensive than a sack I know, but the 'old' pots are beginning to get a bit 'sleepy' now as me muvva says:o Have to see what variety the pet-man gets next; it's been Wilja up to now & very good they are too...need a bit more cooking than Maris Piper/K.Edwards, but just as clean tasting, so I'll def look for them again at the start of the next season.Full time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

Coleslaw recipe? Falafel Recipe? I must have missed those
I have to say, I tried the lentil bolognase from this thread and I have to say I was amazed, thought it would be ok but it was delish!! Have managed to have a meal tonight with leftover rice and enough for lunch tomorrow with some leftover rice along with enough for 2 main meals to shove in the freezer. All from 1 tin of Red Lentils from MrT and some leftover veges.
Amazing!!
Anyway, have gone over my budget this month - as usual. Am just off to update sig. I will be doing mealplans for the rest of the week and my month ends on weds so will be using this month to the Fri then starting on the May GC. May have to make it official this month tho  . Might need help from you guys
I ONLY include groceries and cleaning products - any beauty products I buy from the supermarket (Boots I don't include).
Meals out and spur of the moment take aways aren't included either (as DH pays for those). So, i SHOULD be able to manage £150 for the 2 of us! Gonna be a challenge.
Faye, we budget very similarly. I'm trying to keep to £120 a month but it keeps hovering around £130 as this month I stocked up on flour. I'm trying to meal plan today, inbetween marking coursework-very stressful time of year, but it's a nice ride to Summer after that (I'm hoping!).

Good morning all, I'm planning to be over budget again - ha! whats new we all cry!? I'm saying nothing about next month apart from let's see where it goes, by the end of the month we should have quite a bit of freezer stuff left so, a good start perhaps, anyway one week to go soooooo.LBM 17th April 2007:j

DEBT FREE AND STILL TRYING HARD0 -
Oh dear, went out of town yesterday so couldn't resist the lure of the supermarkets to stock up. Managed to spend £13.73 in one Tesco, £22.92 in another and then £16.97 in Sainsburies. Did bulk buy flour, oats, toilet paper and deodorant though as my local has been sold out of all the cheap ones for the past few weeks so I've been having to buy the more expensive. This little haul should see me through till the end of May!! But only £1.12 left till spend till end of April, ouch.0

Thanks for that. I suggested to BF that I nip into Sainsburys with my bright pink suitcase. He was so mortified, he's given me £10 to stop me :rotfl:0
