Morning to everyone, especially those who ar not feeling well and there are quite a few. The rain here is almost horizontal thank goodness I don't have to walk my DD's dogs today, the wind is so strong I think I would end up doing a Mary Poppins !!
I plan to vacume up and downstairs organise meals for the week-end and get the suitcase out. We are off on Monday for a 4 night stay in High Wycome, got a brill deal at the De Vere hotel. A good place to use as a base as we will be visiting Oxford, visit a friend in Wantage and go and see my Mum in Reading, she is a bit poorly after falling and breaking her wrist and shoulder. Hope to take her out for a meal, I expect I will have to cut up her food, oh how things turn around.
DD is coming here this eve to watch Desp H/wives that I recorded on Wed, it has taken a lot of self control not to watch it. Plan to have a girly night and a takeaway. Good excuse for DH to go to the pub ...... oh the sacrifices he makes for me
I will have to get some ironing done put it in the case so it can get creased again. Am I mad?
(((((((((((Smokie))))))))) take 1 day at a time and try not to let your mind run away worrying about everything, you need to try to rest and keep strong for the little ones. All our thoughts are with you today and all of the tomorrows.
  • Morning all,
It's my first time posting on this thread - so I just want to say a big hello to everyone :)
chocolate.orange - I really hope that you are feeling better later as it is no fun to miss a party, I'm sending lots of positive thoughts to you right now and to all the others in need
I am off now to get my jobs done for the day, but before that I'll be having another cup of tea!

    Morning all!

Smokybabe - (((((HUGS))))) Hope it all went as well as possible yesterday.

Rage in Eden - nice to see you back! :T

Helliecopter - welcome! We spent some years in northern Germany when Dh was in the Army - been in UK since 1982 though!

    gilliana - welcome!

N9eav - what a nuisance it's wet when you had so much you wanted to do outside.

Chocolate .orange - Poor you, hope you feel better presently! Same goes for everyone else who's not well today, or who has poorly childen.

Kyle - what an awful night! Hope tonight will be more restful for you! And that the LOs will soon feel better.

Churchmouse - don't worry, you'll soon get used to cooking for two. If it's easier, you can always cater for four as usual and freeze 2 portions for another day!;)

Catowen :hello: I really enjoy your posts, please don't leave us!

Tired Mum - I've pm'ed you - good luck with the packing    I'm really bad at it, DH is really good though so I usually just get out the clothes I want to take and let him fit them into the suitcase!:p

Mary43 - so sorry to hear about your Mum, best wishes to her (((HUGS)))

Mumzyof2 - well done with giving up smoking!

Sorry I haven't mentioned everyone individually, by the time I've read the thread I've forgotten what you've all said! Hope you all have a good day anyway.

I think we're going to the butcher's this morning - can't put it off any longer, got nothing for dinner! Must go to the library too, as I've read all my library books and have already renewed them twice as I hadn't time to take them back! Then just washing up and general housework to do. We're going to Dover tomorrow to see MIL and SFIL (stepfather-in-law!) She's fed up because she had a neuro operation on her spine before Christmas and since she came home in January she'd been having Physio at home, but she has now been told she can't be funded for any more home physio - but she can't yet get up the front steps, so she can't get to the hospital for physio! If they won't let her have any more physio at home they are condemning her to be housebound! Time to get her MP and the local press involved, methinks.
    Best wishes

I just googled Thickened Cream in Oz and this is what it says. It isn't thin cream when you pour it out. HTH.

Thickened Cream (regular or reduced fat)
With 35% and 18% milk fat, it contains additives such as gelatin, vegetable gum or other modifying agents. The additives act as thickening agents, making it easier to whip and less likely to separate or curdle.
Whipped, it is ideal in cake fillings, mousses, ice creams and cheesecakes.

Ivyleaf I hope you get it all sorted with your MIL. Awful situation for you all.
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

Morning everyone. How late am I? Page 3 already! DH decided to stay at home to make phone calls and catch up with paperwork so he's only just left for work.

SMOKY - (((Hugs))) to you and the LOs. Hope yesterday went as well as it could have. Remember, we are all here for you when you are ready and are in our thoughts daily.

TIRED MUM - have a great time in Cyprus!

MUMZY - well done on the non-smoking!

Well, I am afraid I have read the first three pages here at abut 300 miles an hour but will try and catch up with everyone later. I have at least managed to change the sheets and hoover and dust upstairs, prep the veg for tonight's dinner which is roast chicken breasts, pots, asparagus (a yellow-stickered bargain from the Co-op), courgettes and gravy. Pudding is the rest of Aussie's Impossible Pie to which I added some drinking chocolate powder and it is truly truly delicious!

My small pile of ironing will have to wait until tomorrow because I want to clean and hoover downstairs and then I have some paperwork to do - as always.

Hope everyone had a good day and (((hugs))) to all those in need.
