What rubbish from Quiet Advisor! If that is the best advice this advisor can give, then best keep quiet!!

How would you know what a novice TSO would say, and how an experienced one would differ? How long have you been one? They enforce the law, they don't make it.

There is indeed much case law on many aspects of the TDA 1968. However, on such a simple and straightforward breach the TSO's report would hardly need any references to cases.

Ben500 also has a valid point. What dreadful publicity if the policy was withdrawn. Asda, Sainsbury etc would be on it like a shot, and probably introduce a similar policy themselves. The market is cut-throat at present.

Oh, and before you ask, I was a TSO for over 25 years.

  • Just popped to Tesco and the corn fed chickens were over priced, said £2.99 per KG on chicken but £2.49 on shelf edge, lost my bottle though, I picked up 1 then put it back! I will gear myself up and go back later! Thanks to OP for this one!

    Chicken!

I must admit, I've not been back to the same store yet.
However, if they haven't changed (or even removed) the labels, then I am doing nothing naughty.
  • I think the demographic of my store near work means it does not keep Corn Fed Chicken

No luck on the gammon or cheese either

Need a new batch to look for this week

    HI
just come back from my local Tescos again, Wolverton in MK, corn fed chickens as above, however there were only 3 on the shelf, I got them all, went round to the cheese and found Weight Watchers cheese aslo mispriced on packet compared to shelf label. I went to CS and spoke to the same lady, that I spoke to on Sat when I got my cheap gammon. She told me that she was going to start checking as up to now she had never bothered, she confirmed it must happen all the time, and good luck to me.
So its chicken for tea, tonight and gammon again tommorrow
    regards to all

Tesco - Forest Town Mansfield had stickers on all the mispriced cheese and bacon adjusting the price so it was the same as the shelf price. So no luck there then!!

  • Bought a smoked gammon joint today £6.26 on pack, £5.96 on shelf. Would have preferred unsmoked but the prices were correct! Beggars cant be choosers! Went to CS and said that I was sure that it was £5 something (ha ha as if I didnt know!) ....she asked me if there was one there for £5 odd did I want that instead! i just said.....um....I'm sure it was £5 odd on the shelf! i was really sweating with fear! she came back and said that the shelf was wrong and gave me my £6.26 back!

Thank you Tescos - Every little helps!!!

Back to Beggars Bush today for another trawl. Got more bacon, thin cut steaks, Stilton wedges and a very nice mature cheddar from the deli display.

There were a few other things too, but I shall be returning for them later in the week. They just don't learn, fortunately, so it's like shooting fish in a barrel!

Oh, redfox, why did you think it was off topic to explain why it would indeed be an offence for Tesco to refuse to honour the price promise? Any ideas where it would be more "on topic" than here?
  • got 4 packs of cheese today and 4 of the gammon (they had loads so noone else was missing out).

Got the cheese refunded ok, but woman first of all said that becasue the gammon should have been 8.60ish that I wouldn't get my money back. Called the supervisor and he decided that it wasn't the saem gammon. I bought Tesco smoked gammon joint 2kg, but there was one extra word on the packed compared to the sign. Sign said £7.99 and I was charged £8.48.

This seems to be the sae as what happened to everyone else - supervisor said there are lots of different types of 2kg Gammon joints

I'm pretty sure he's wrong - do I have the correct type fo gammon or not?- gonna phone customer servcies perhasp they can help
