Yes but what you fail to recognise is if Tesco withdraw this policy or even amend it as you say it will only highlight the fact that they cannot guarantee as they currently imply tha price intergrity within their stores, a lot of people are influenced by this policy but never challenge it as they feel it wouldn't be offered if there were any risk of it being taken advantage off so therefore don't even check receipts, but would most likely sit up and take notice if it was withdrawn or modified and perhaps look to the reasons why, No I think that Tesco are facing something of a dillema here and there are already signs that prices are being scrutinesed more closely and corrected more swiftly in indiividual stores, what they need to do is make this more of a nationwide thing before they could consider such an option or otherwise take a huge gamble this doesn't hit the headlines.

We went to Lowestoft last week and bought 2 DVD's, £5.99 each or 2 for £10. So chooses my 2 DVD's, paid and as I went out a huge smile beamed across my face :j , they had overcharged me. The price reduction didnt come off. so that was Tesco near to Pleasurewood Hills :T

Im still chuckling away to myself as i sit here lol.
  • Excellent result today. Managed to get -

1 pack of Tesco Value Red Leicester, medium size
    Shelf price £3.89/kg
    Pack price £3.96/kg

2 lots of Tesco Healthy Living Turkey Breasts Quick Cook Steaks
    Shelf price £5.22/kg
    Pack price £7.22/kg

Staff were a bit slow (more than 10 minutes), but finally received refund, with a total saving just under £10.

Thanks to the original posters for both of these.

Easy solution, buy them and if it does not work as long as you do not take the outer wrapper off they should refund.
Just nipped downstairs and hubby said they are called 'Gordy' and 'Pollyanna'

This weekend's visits to Tesco resulted in the following...

Store 1: 2kg Gammon Joint priced as £8.48, label on shelf £7.98. When the CS member returned, she just refunded my £8.48 in cash (had paid by card!), and off I went to store 2. On the way back to the car, I found a 5p off petrol voucher, and as these don’t have the details of your clubcard, anyone can use them. Also, as the original £8.48 took my bill over the £50 mark, I was given a 5p petrol voucher too.

Store 2: Same label mis-match, picked up two Gammons. CS went off and came back to say that the label was wrong and it didn't refer to what I had bought! He said that "someone's moved the stock over, and the £7.98 Gammon Joints are out of stock". So I asked for a refund, which this time was returned to my card, but no Gammon this time. When I got home, I noticed on the online shop that there aren’t any "other Gammons" at £7.98.

Store 3: 1x Gammon Joint, 2 X Value Red Leicester Cheese.
Used the Scanner on the shop floor to check that I'd be overcharged, then off to the checkouts, then CS. CS staff went to check, was gone for AGES!!, and returned with "someone from that department". He told me the cheese was a different price because they didn't weigh the same!! I told him, yeah, but the unit weight is wrong, as it's more than the unit price on the shelf.
Off we march to the chilled shelf, with him saying "it's right, the price is right", OK Brucie, I thought, perhaps within the ten minutes that the CS person had been gone for, they've switched the labels.
But no, the label was the same as I saw originally.
The guy had to go off to see a manager to check on the policy. The feedback was I could have one Gammon and only one cheese.
However, by the time we got back to CS, the guy told them a full refund and the items for free for both cheeses and the Gammon.

Today: Just 2xBacon Joints and another 2 Red Leicester’s. CS called for a manager from that dept, who went off to the shelf (I followed this time), and he agreed the cheese was wrong, and the Bacon also. Once again full refund and items free!!

One thing I would say, go at the busiest time you can - my last two visits meant the manager had a queue of people to see, so he wouldn't get picky and start to moan, or wriggle out of it.

These mis-matched labels seem to be at every store, and I am really starting to get a buzz.

Department Manager, Come On Down, the price is NOT right!!

That's my local tesco! The CS people in there are reasonably ok (depending on who you get). Even when you get a refund, they don't do anything about the shelf price or misprice. I'll have to check that out now. :p
