Oh, redfox, why did you think it was off topic to explain why it would indeed be an offence for Tesco to refuse to honour the price promise? Any ideas where it would be more "on topic" than here?

The whole point of this thread, the bargains, gets lost amongst the discussion and that doesn't help anybody. There is a specific thread running on Discussion Time here for debating these issues of the policy, this thread isn't the place to do it. Thanks.

With fear of falling into discussion mode, the £8.48 Gammon Joints have the word "Prime" on the label, not on the £7.98 shelf label.
This was pointed out to me by a CS bod, but he was the exception, as two other stores said fine - have your money back.

In response to this now, I would say to them that there's no shelf label for the £4.13 smaller version of the "prime" Gammon either, but there is a £4.13 label without that wording, and that is what most people would go by.

Also, do they remove the £7.98 label? If so, then why? This would prove that the label is mis-leading/wrong.

With reference to my posting from lastnight, try to pick busier times to visit the CS desk, as you'll find the staff busy sorting out other queries, and they'll be too rushed to start getting picky.

I got a couple of Bacon joints yesterday, and although the difference was a mere 2p per kg, there were some that matched the shelf label when the manager checked, but he said OK (somebody was following him around the store with another problem), and he'll phone CS to authorise a full refund.
  • thanks for clearing that up Pete - it was the word "Prime" he didn't like - though it was pretty obvious he just didn't want to give me 32 quid and he was looking for any old excuse. And yes they did take the sign down immediately.

I didn't bother buying the gammon in the end and got a refund, so I suppose at least I gained a few more points if nothing else.

Just popped into Tesco Redcar for a couple of bits & decided to have another look round for misprices

Bacon & Gammon Joint still wrongly priced up

I picked up some Beef Rump Steaks £7.58/Kg on Shelf & £7.98/Kg on Label

Got 2 packs & photographed the shelf tickets just incase they got removed

I also asked the girl @ CS on the quantity allowed before the thought we where taking the p!ss & she replied that 2 items on any one product is the limit

    Thanks it may help !!!

  • i offered to take a photo of the label when i was trying for a gammon refund cos customer services were busy. They said you're not allowed to take photos in store - so be careful out there!

In that case they are going to have a lot of work on their hands ripping out cctv units then!

If you really want to get into misprices the way to do it is watch for the price increases instore on the products you normally purchase, you know the ones like the pink salmon!! you will often find that in transition from one price to the next that a lot of misprices occur in same type lines as they are also pumped up or down a penny or two plus it takes you away from the chillers for a while, the returns are not so good as meat is compact and pricey as is cheese and packages and cans not so, you will also find misprices occurring in the ready meal/pud depts so don't restrict yourselves to just meat and cheese man cannot live by free meat and free cheese alone sometimes the odd cheesecake or tart au citron is necessary!

Looking at the list I'd bet on pork leg joints to be the next misprice as this is about the only thing they haven't screwed up yet so I'll be watching them, the fillet steak I'm afraid was running just over a month prior to this thread.
