  • They got me as well after buying flights via eBookers . Tempted me with free vouchers. was not that fussed, but thought what the hell.
Didn't realise that they got my agreement for eBookers to send my credit card details to them and a couple of months later I got 2 £10 debits on my CC (shopperdiscount.co.uk).
Not impressed with eBookers or the con artists are Shoppers Discount & Rewards.
Rang the number on my statement (0808 2341539) and got thru to a computer.
Got an option as to cancel which I picked, but then you have persevere and hit 2 to speak to someone.
it then gives a 2nd option to get a refund for the last payment. I picked this, but as I wanted 2 refunds I again picked 2 to speak to someone and got through to someone and asked for a refund. They explained that by entering my email I confirmed they could get payment details from eBookers. If this is true it certainly was not obvious.

Thank god I've got both amounts refunded now.

I'm very annoyed about the fact my CC details were passed on by the back door.
If I'd have had to entered them I would have stopped straight away.
Found some email in my spam folder with last 4 digits of my cc and small print about the £10 a month fee.

Has anyone compiled a list of the companies that happily sacrifice thier customer relationshops by passing details to this dodgy company?

    Phil

Imagine the chaos should other "dodgy" websites get onto this "loophole" SDR can so successfully hide behind, I am shocked the One show did not mention the bank details, and so far "watchdog" do not close this "loophole" that enables such companies access to such sensitive details.

  • Just signed up to a "free" £15 voucher from ticketmaster, the site looked so cheap and dodgy that I googled it and found this thread. Needless to say I've just been through the automated phoneline for shopperdiscountsandrewards and cancelled my member ship (phone number is 0808 234 1539 if anyone else is wondering how to cancel their membership).

What absolute villains, I can't believe that a well known company such as ticketmaster could be involved in what is effectively a phishing scam.

I am fuming, who should I complain to about this? My MP?

If someone like me (internat savvy 30 yr old) has been caught out by this, I dread to think how many people in the UK must be currently signed up to these bloodsuckers and is paying them £10 a month.

    Grrrrrrr
  • Hi, I also have just this week spotted £10 a month being taken by this company. I phoned them direct and said that I had noted 5 x £10 amounts being taken from my account - the helpful lady said "no it's actually £90" and agreed a full refund. Apparently I will received 3 x £10 payments and then fill a form in for the remainder. I have done this and have now received the first of the £10 repayments - so it's fingers crossed!

And thats exactly how they are continuing to get away with this. No drama refunds means they stay under the radar for longer! Scamming gits!!!

Just discovered that I have been paying Shopperdiscounts.co.uk £8 per month for the last two years .... and all because I ticked a box for a £10 discount on future purchases when I ordered some flowers online from Interflora. I can't believe that Interflora passed my credit card details on like this, and then (without authorisation) that Shopperdiscounts were able to extract this money from my account. This is at the very least sharp practice, if not a total scam, and I am astonished that big name companies are associating themselves with such practices. I will never be odering from Interflora online again, and am now pursuing matters with both Shopperdiscounts and Barclaycard .... Shopperdiscounts agreed to refund when I rang them, but only after I persisted for 20 minutes on the phone. It was clear, from the way they handled the call, that they get complaints like mine all the time. They tried everything in the book - even suggesting I had lent someone my credit card, or that my mother had signed me up (they knew her name and quoted a transaction she had done with Monarch airlines!) - before backing down and offering a refund for 3 months, plus the whole amount if I filled out their form which they would email. When it came, the email just referred me to the form on their website, which again suggests that this is something they deal with every day ... I am shocked with the audacity of it, and the involvement of a supposedly reputable company like Interflora!
