Hi guys,
I've been a recent customer of both easyjet and vistaprint, so I've had some interesting readingon this thread...
what's unusual though is that far from having money removed from my account or credit card, I seem to have a *credit* of 38.04 from SWB DEPOSITS, which, I understand from a previous post on this thread, could be another name for SDR.
Has anyone else had this kind of unexpected credit? Should I just keep schtum, or is there something more sinister at play? After all they have my details in order to put money into my account and I can't imagine what it is in referenc to (no cashback purchases, refund requests or any such that I can remember!)

Add Seetickets.com to the list.
I did click on the "get £15 off next time", but it didn't say anything about membership charges. I assumed it was a cashback site.
I sent an angry email today for a refund of MY £10.

I have just checked my bank account statement to find that I had £20 taken (2 months membership fees) by Shoppersdiscounts.co.uk.
I bought flights through EBookers and obviously they had some similar tie-up with this scam.
I certainly didn't sign anything. And if I'd agreed to this membership (which I didn't) surely I would have received an email asking for confirmation of membership.
I can't believe they can just steal money from your bank account so easily. Surely this sort of thing should be stopped.
I recently was conned by a company sending texts to my mobile and charging me £4 a time. I got my money back and they were fined £30,000 - where's the difference?0 -
I was signed up via Monarch, but I know I didn't enter my card details to SD&R. I almost used Photobox today too, good job I checked in here. I'll post a comment on the link above to let them know I'm not happy with SD&R and photobox for using them.
I'll check on here for a better alternative to Photobox, I have old negatives from photo's developing and photo's I've scanned, if anyone can recommend a service please pm me, thanks
SD&R have sent me the details how I was signed up to their membership, and I did enter my details twice, once on Monarch airlines website and once again on SD&R website. I'm shocked I did this as I really wouldn't have wanted to sign up to a £10 a month membership which I never used. I fully admit I may have clicked their emails as spam, that's why I didn't see their emails, if I did see the emails I would have cancelled the membership sooner.
I still think there are issues with people not being aware they are being signed up to a paid subscription, as the many people who post in this thread prove that.
I hope this can be resolved and I invite Mary post in here and let us know if there any plans to make the joining of SD&R more clear, or are the people in this thread a little lapsy daisy when making online purchases?
I wouldn't mind hearing about SD&R service, are there genuine discounts and rewards to be made that justify a £10 a month subscription?
The email SD&R sent me with all the details and images of the box I clicked has made me think; 'how did I not see that?'.
But I know I wouldn't have wanted to sign up to SD&R. The Bank card I used was also a bank account I set up for my bussiness use, so wouldn't have intentionally used the card for a subscription.0 -
Hi All,
Used Expedia for the first time the other day.
Noticed in the confirmation email they sent me after at the bottom of the page this was written.
Your reservation is complete click here to clain your £10 cash back incentive on your next Expeida reservation, then underneath was written by clicking above you can claim your reward from our preferred partner when you join their programme. Terms and conditions apply.
I Clicked on it and got taken to the shopper discounts and rewards website page. Read through it all , as soon as i saw they wanted my card details became very wary.
I didn't fill anything in, i didn't click on the voucher shown and i certainly did not click on the big yes button the woman who was talking was telling me to click on, instead went to no thanks take me back to Expedia which it did, back to my email confirmation.
Do you think i will be ok? do you have to actually sign up in order for them to charge you £10 a month or by clicking on the link in my Expedia confirmation have i already unwittenly signed up if you get what i mean.0 -

I'm sure you will be okay, as they need your bank details and your email address (which acts as a digital signiture), I've been told by SD&R that they only get your details after you sign through their website.0 -
Damnit - These people have been doing me since February - £10 a month. Only just spotted it this month and called to complain on 0808 234 1539.
They say it was thetrainline where I signed up. Its really something I'm not interested in and I've never seen a card from them and I'd not heard of them til I spotted the item on my statement.
They've refunded £30 and given me a form to reclaim back the rest.

Hi,
I also noticed some charges of £10 on my account statement from shopperdiscounts. I called up the free phone number and cancelled my account on the automated system - unfortunately i did not wait for the bit at the end that I've just read about on this thread which asks you if you want a refund. I did speak to an adviser to ask how this membership was set up who said that they would not have my details on their systems if I hadnt personnally entered them! I really didn't know what to say. She told me that national express (which I used because I couldn't afford to buy train tickets) had linked me to shopper discounts and that 3 charges had been made. I have since found out that at least 5 charges have been made so she was obviously not being honest with me! I have received an email confirming that my account has been cancelled, telling me to log into the account (?) and it also states that the account username and password are the same as the username and password for my hotmail account! A couple of months after this membership with shopper discounts began, my hotmail account was somehow accessed by someone who sent an email to all of my contacts - I am certain that this is related! I am always really careful when I enter my card details and sign up for things on the internet - I am certain that I would not have carelessly entered this kind of information. And i am even more certain that it was not made clear to me that I would be charged membership fees! The account is still live and all of my details (including my name, address, email and card details!) are still on the website! I am really surprised that the advisers are happy to lie to people - they must be aware that what this company is doing is dodgy! In a bit of a panic I called my bank and cancelled my bank card! I then realised that I am waiting for a large unrelated refund to this card which I will probably not receive now. I have emailed shopper discounts to ask for a refund of the membership charges but am not holding out much hope - especially since I have cancelled the card. I have had to change my paswords on all my online accounts. I am also really worried that my credit rating has been affected. I am seriously considering never paying for anything on the internet ever again. I know that sounds a bit dramatic, but I dont have much money and all of this this has really upset me!
Online companies should not be allowed to do this sort of thing! It's extremely dishonest!0 -
In response to your (many moons ago) previous post on this very forum, the solution is very very simple, allow customers the opportunity of inputting their OWN bank details "MANUALLY" from each site you promote your company on,
I find it outrageous that you have accessed peoples bank details (as per customer's posts on this very forum and MANY other forums) from the details these customers have included via their previous transaction's from such well known companies.
Its not enough to say "if your not happy we will cancel your membership" as clearly, many posters on here did not knowingly create a membership, something I am sure they would KNOW for sure, had they manually been instructed to re-enter their bank details to become a "willing" member.
As from your last post, I don't expect you to reply to such a request in any hurry, choosing as it were to carefully point out a members "right to cancel".
It is quite obvious (or was prior to this thread), that only a percentage of customers were aware that you were taking monies from their accounts, of those only a percentage KNEW they were members, this was clearly pointed out to you when you first posted on this thread, you chose then to ignore that point.
Only now however have you realised just how popularly read MSE is, and indeed the vast majority of unhappy or unknowing members, are rightfully claiming their monies back, indeed the word is spreading (not just on here), that more and more people are discovering exactly what is being taken from their accounts, and by who.
With no thanks to yourselves however, its took a public forum to name and shame you, and only now are you feeling the pinch of it. However you brush it to look, those "unwilling" customers are finally discovering how you operate.
Here's hoping you operate much more clearly in the future, than your previous or current method's. Allowing for far more customer satisfaction, and maybe even willing members:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A
