• Just ordered from Mymemory (£5 cheaper than elsewhere and cashback) and seen the Shoppers Discounts button come up. Also appeared on my order confirmation, looks like they're really pushing it.

I've done a bit of research on SD&R with the use of Trading Standards. We all should be leaving a review of the company here: http://www.trustpilot.co.uk/review/www.shopperdiscountsandrewards.co.uk
as this is then seen by the companies which sign up to use SD&R, so far they have 7/10 marks which makes them look a good company with no complaints, my review has not been logged yet.

SD&R has a "Truste Certification"
We are a licensee of TRUSTe Privacy Program. TRUSTe is an independent, non-profit organization whose mission is to build users' trust and confidence in the Internet by promoting the use of fair information practices. I sent an email to SD&R asking if they plan to improve their recruiting policy by making sure they do not sign up members unwittingly, like they did me. I suggested a confirmation link in an email sent to a customer, so SD&R know their email doesn't go into a spam folder, and the customer knows they are signing up to a monthly charge.

I wasn't happy with their response, as it seemed almost automated and didn't answer my question:
Thank you for taking the time to share your suggestions with us. We
appreciate member feedback and take all comments on board.

Maybe if we use the 2 sites above to complain we can get something done, maybe just that extra step of a confirmation email with a link to activate a membership will also stop people being signed up unwittingly.

The truste complaint is a quick 5 step process, I complained about the way I was signed up to a paid subscription without giving my details to SD&R, and the fact I didn't know I was signed up for 9 months, as I never seen any emails from SD&R. I also ticked the box which lets SD&R contact me. I will post any developments.

It seems that none of the merchants concerned want to know, and I even think Easyjet are still associating with these people!
Perhaps we should all write to Watchdog (watchdog@bbc.co.uk) & see if they will investigate further

I believe Easy Jet, Interflora, Easy Life et al are reputable companies and it is possible they have been scammed too by Shoppers Discount. One blatant way this is done is by offering to post their mail ( a saving of thousands of Pounds to some companies) if their mail can carry Shoppers Discount flyers which appear innocuous and accepted. But, if these companies do not take any action after these complaints, then they deserve to be boycotted. Incidently, I got caught to the scam and they deducted £10 per month for two months. I complained by email to Shoppers Discount, Easy Life Group and the relevant Credit Card company and promptly received the credits.
• I urge everyone who have been conned by Shoppers Discount to email them about the unauthorised deduction. Don't telephone them at the given number, as they only try to fob you off. They know what they are doing is fraudulent and they promptly offer to cancel the membership and refund all the money
• Hi
The same has happened to me, first time poster so hope I am doing this correctly, I purchased something from lookfantastic.com, when I accepted a voucher towards my next item I did not know I was signing up to pay £10.00 a month to shopper discounts and rewards, it took 9 months (I know) before I realised who is this I'm paying to and made checks, Im horrified that any company can sink so low as to pass all my banking details on to another, whether it is their in the small print or not it is underhand and morally wrong. On ringing Shopper Direct on 0808 2341539, they have promised to make full refund immediately, which also tells me they know its not right. Therefore all these companies that do this especially lookfantastic.com SHAME ON YOU!!!
• Hi, please make the effort to reclaim this money - it works. My intial call refunded the last 3 payments direct to my account within 10 working days and they then sent me a form to request a refund of the remaining £50 payments _ also refunded to my account within 10 working days no problems.
