Dont know if this is new but I got done on this scam when booking on Ryanair.

Eventually got a promise of the £10 (price increase?) charge by e-mailing them.

I got onto this thread when I googled an unidentified item on my credit card, Shoppers Discount £10. The only way they could have got my details is when I purchased through Easy Life mail order. I ticked the box that offered a discount not realising it was exactly the opposite.

I was just going to add Easylife to the list, together with My Memory.

Just found this on my debit card statement. As the account was sitting with a zero balance it's pushed me into the red incuring charges. Lines closed at weekends too. Suspect ryanair but didn't use this card for most recent transaction.

As I have already said in this thread I will NEVER buy again from any company involved in this scam A because its unethical and illegal and B because they see fit to divulge my details to a 3rd party without consent.

Interflora has already lost between myself, my partner and both our families at least 11 customers all who used it regularly in the past (estimate £1200 orders per year easily)

Expedia (who I really liked) lose at least 4 flight bookings and 2 hotel+flight bookings a year. I now use Lastminute.com instead.

And I will never use any company people here list as being involved with this scam.

I liken it to buying coke of drug dealers as to how scummy this scam is I really do.

Not only are Easy Life part of this scheme, but they have just been censured by the ASA for selling a magnetic device that was supposed to improve your posture. As their answer to the ASA shows:-

    Response
    1. & 2. Easylife said they had advertised the product for some time without complaint. They did not however have documentary evidence to support the advertised claims.

They seem happy to sign up to any old scam without giving it a second thought.

I have been paying for this since February. I called the number for shopperdiscounts and asked how I had been enrolled - they told me it was through Expedia, and the date of my transaction, and the dates of all the other emails sent to me since, which all ended up in my spam folder, as I suspect they are designed to. The monthly emails made no mention of the charge or receipt for payment made.
I contacted Expedia to let them know how disappointed I was, especially as they have lots of stuff on their website about how safe and secure they are and you can use them with confidence. I got a quick reply with the shopperdiscount contact info which implies this is a common complaint.
Our best defence is sharing this information with all our friends and family - and I'll be checking my statements carefully from now on!
  • Have just spotted a £10 recurring charge on my bank statement from this bunch of cowboys - they snared me through NATIONAL EXPRESS - so that's another one to avoid. I've cancelled and have been promised my money back within 10 days. What low life these people are. I think their name has acquired an extra O somewhere along the line :rotfl:
